Aw, and I was hoping it would be a good PTA alternative. I don't really see much going for Japanese med line for me, nothing really stands out to me in it except chi-ri and I'd much rather play comet, and STB-1 and I'd much rather play Leo

I absolutely love the Type 61. 74% WR, 3060 average damage all solo. It is not a tank that new players will find easy to play but I think it's great.

Edit: BTW the Type 61 and STB-1 only have 258 mm if pen, not 268

I'm grinding the Type 61 right now, and Bushka gives sound advice.   The funny thing for me, however, is that I like this tank a lot more than the Centurion 7/1.  The Type 61 forces you to be more cautious and situationally aware.  The tank is awesome at hill-hugging and so forces you to learn the advantageous parts of each map as well.

If you aren't running food and Vstab on this tank you are missing out.  With these you literally get the best gun handling and snap shooting on any of the tier 9 meds (I haven't driven the PTA as a disclaimer, but I hear the gun handling on that isn't very good).  The good gun handling allows you to play more aggressively as you can pop for shots and get back to cover before tanks can target you.

I thought this tank was going to be a dog.  It is not.  It's my second highest damage tier 9 med.  The gun makes the tank.  Maximize the gun handling.

^^^much this. Bushka I notice that you are running neither food nor vstabs and I feel like that is a mistake. Like Cod said the gun handling is amazing when these are added to the tank. Combine that with your excellent gun depression, great view range, and decent mobility and you have what is essentially an M46 Patton with better accuracy, pen, and aim time but a worse DPM.

Hey Bushka Jr, do you run a camo net on this tank? I don't know if you mentioned that in the video. Great video as always!

The biggest reason it sucks because that gun depression means nothing in blitz *hull down T54 every match*

Gun Depression doesn't matter???? Especially with the addition of the Canal map, it is more important than ever. You will never understand the value and difference of gun Depression until you play the Panther and Comet. The vast difference in what those two can do comes down heavily to the gun Depression

Come across a good Centurion 7 or M-46 player and you'll eat those words, (I have). Soil and rocks will absorb any ammo no matter what angle it's at. (Unless you are into the tin foil hat scene) Tier 8-10 Russian mediums hull down are a pain in the a_s, but their lack of gun depression on many maps can get them into trouble when the enemy won't let them play that type of game.

T54 have trouble hull down? nope, the gun depression killed the russian meds in pc, but not blitz, T54 is 4% better than the average tier 9 mediums, why because they can use their ridiculous 5 degrees of gun depression on every single map's major battle area. I dont have the T54, but I have driven the Type 59, 1out of 100 situation I find myself lack of situation.

But I did not mean to say having better gun depression is bad, they are really helpful, but not crucial, like PC, Quickybaby has always preferred the tanks with better gun depression than the tanks lack of gun depression, but in Blitz is a totallty different story, T54 is really average tier 9 on PC stats, but OP in blitz, there mist be something caused that

Just got it and like it, but don't love it like I love my Sta-1. I just started playing Armored Warfare so I have been on a small Blitz break, but I was going to focus on the 61 next. Anyway, as mentioned above, try it with V-stab and some sushi and see if it suits you better. I am thankful for the Japanese meds since they are helping me break out of my Russian med driving habits.

I think it's just as you go into higher tiers the players become more experienced in tank and map knowledge. They see a 54 hull down and it's time to flank the flank. I still see players duelling with hull down 54s and scratch my head. Unless I can find a defIade to force the 54 into exposing his hull to take a shot, I won't bother with him. I'm only tier 4 in PC but I can agree that gun depression plays a bigger part in your tank tactics there than it does in Blitz. Abusing gun depression is a bit of a dark art and takes more time to master than hull down. I think the reason IMO that the 54 can be OP in blitz is the lack of tank diversity in the "food chain". It would seem it doesn't have many natural predators with its armor, speed and gun profile. Throw into the mix small maps and it gets where it needs to be quickly and can dominate a flank. Go to PC and God almighty it can be unbalanced. Huge maps and a significantly more diverse tank mix can quickly whittle down a 54s OP factor it would seem. I do notice on the newer larger Blitz maps that 54s have a harder, but not impossible time holding a flank.
