The panther/m10 is based on a historical little mod for a handful of panthers. During the battle of the bulge, a German special operations unit was tasked with infiltrating allied positions then to sabotage and create chaos behind enemy lines. This plan required German units to be disguised as American units, so a search was set out to find English speaking soldiers and allied equipment.

 

Problem was, they didn't find nearly enough of either to fit the requirement for the original plan. American tanks were especially scarce. The solution? Dress some Panthers to look like M10 Wolverine tank destroyers. 

 

Since the pm10 is a German tank that is supposed to be "disguised" as an American tank, shouldn't it have camo patterns used on American tanks instead?

On PC is has American camo and decals

It's a captured French and made German. So German camo.

 

 

P/M10 is a German tank DISGUISED as an American so it's supposed to have American camo

FWIW the few PM10's discovered had plain olive drab coloring.

 

I just used the three most plain camos available (since three are duplicated in each season for every nation)... although I may ditch it because of how much prammo I'm having to shoot during all these games in tier 7/8 awash in premium heavies.

Because the Germans took it. The Germans were disguising the Panthers as Wolverines, which wouldn't really work if they were painted with German camo.
