 Senator_Ratbat this is one of the best news I've heard from blitz in a long long time!! 

 Now if we can get a system that groups the rookies and 40% and under players together till they progress enough to join the veteran tankers I believe it would alleviate much of the negativity that plagues the battlefield!

edit: Makes it easier and faster. With the current system now, I just keep taking screenshots of the players that block/troll/afk and I want to report them but I never report because its kinda tedious and I just let them go. And let the screenshots build on my device, eating away at its memory. 

 

I been waiting for something like that for years there are too many bad players in the game not only AFKs, but people that rages or people that suicide on harbor, people from your team that block your way, etc.

Good move but why do people go afk so often?

Sadly no but once we finalize the review of the profile pulls you should see less of the serious offenders. While we can't say the names of the players who receive action from this initiative I will at least let you all know (ring a bell maybe) when justice has been dealt.

Based on the data collected I see mainly players who are clearly abusing AFK. Worst of the worst essentially.

I'm eagerly awaiting the inevitable posts from the newly banned serial AFKers:

At least it's only seriel afkers and not all, just last night I went into a battle and my game crashed, loaded back k up and it didn't put me back in the battle, and we lost.

I find this to be a bigger problem than the afkers

Why not penalise AFKers say 10,000 cedits for every match.  I would suggest that, that would be a very quick way to stop it

9 cents an AFK to ruin the game of at least 6 other tankers?  Cost is relative and with serial AFKs up to things a lot of people don't comprehend that is no way near enough cost.  Better to ban the folks that are trying to game the system.

I had this happen, but the axe murderer was also a wotb fan so instead of slaughtering me and my family we tooned a few times and then he moved on to my neighbor's house. Point is, wotb saved my life.  True story.

I'm beginning to suspect that you (WG) just tell us what we want to hear but actually do less than nothing.

From the sucktastic issues with ping (expand the servers already...you know what's wrong). I live in one of the fastest internet service areas in the USA..west coast...ridiculous.

And the rampant AFK, there's zero deterrant, nada, zip, lots of lip, no action....80 percent of my games had 1 to as many as 3 AFK's in the last week.

Cure the problem, have a severe penalty, these people who AFK more than likely do not contribute to your financial pool anyways, all they do is piss off those of us that do.

While I appreciate WG is trying to do something about this, and from what Ratbat is saying I think they're taking a good approach to it, I honestly doubt it will make a noticeable change in how often we find AFKers on our team or the Reds.  I may be wrong, but I would be willing to bet serial AFKers are a relatively small number compared to the number that go AFK on occasion for the usual reasons.  That said, it is against the rules and I have no problem with WG enforcing that.  

 

I don't know how much WG is able/willing to share of this, but I'd be curious to know what portion of the total AFKs are caused by these serial AFKers you're focusing on.

I was in a tier V-VI the other day on Fort Distemper and we had 3 AFK's (not lying).  I was driving the Anko Special (on mute of course) and down to about 43 hp when the last AFK'er that was left woke up.  He ended up being a really good player and we both survived and won.  Moral of the story: If you have 3 AFK's on your team, make sure you mute your anime tank, and one of the AFK tanks will wake up and you will win.
