Hi everyone! I just wanted to announce that the Iron Dragoons have undergone a very successful change in leadership. Sticking to our claim of being "the most democratic clan on the forums" and following an anonymous week-long vote, the Iron Dragoons have selected a new commander which will be taking the reigns of the clan.

Therefore, I would like to extend a congratulatory note to Herodotus4, whom a majority of the clan decided would be the most suited successor to the thron...er uhh position.

Under his leadership, I am confident that the clan will continue to expand and head in the right direction. We have been discussing many new things in the clan and our new dictat...er uhh leader, is sure to play a positive role making some of these additions and/or changes come true, so stay tuned for new news on the horizon!

Once again, congratulations Herodotus4! We have faith in you leading our great group of dragoons to victory!

Feel free to visit our recruitment thread or website for clan updates and a full list of cool dragoons to toon with.

I think Imperium would like to disagree with that democratic claim.

But, congrats on the new leader and best of luck to him

In the empire there is no democracy. Only rebellion. Rebellions are fun to squash. Just ask the Wookies.

Per IRD custom, the old clan leader will be assassinated by the new supreme leader's subordinates, er, I mean will join the existing Official Officers.

In what way do you do democracy? I had not heard of this yet. (Genuinely curious, not confrontational apparently you guys can't read my mind:)

I suggested it in clan chat and there was little interest, most IRD members do not use voice coms and that is nessesary for a countdown, sorry.

Well, we will use voice comms to hold large scale clan meetings with votes, all officers are approved by members, we also frequently send out google forms also as to what the clan should be working towards.

Google forms seem like a good idea, that may be something to look at. We also have officers voted in by rigged- i mean ingame votes.

You vote in your leaders?

Wow.  That's just ridiculous.  Campers and Taters just has a "figure head" leader that gets blamed for wrong doing and lynched if necessary.

...

Hey, wait a minute!

How long does someone hold the office of Clan Leader in IRD?  Is there a First Lady?  Is there a term limit?  Have you ever needed to do a recount on votes?  Do you guys have young impressionable interns?  Do you have to be a native resident of IRD to be able to be clan leader?  Or is there a naturalization process?  How long does that take?  Do you change your national anthem with every new leader?  Can you have a vote of no confidence?  Or is it just impeachment?  Have you ever had anyone be impeached?  If you do get impeached are you kicked out of the clan?  Or just dropped out of leadership?  Or put into a sub-commander role?  Do you do "state of the clan" addresses?  If so, how often?

Anyway, good luck Hero4.  We'll see you out there.  Need anything, lets us know.

To answer questions 1 and 3, you can not have two terms back to back (because there are no chronological terms)

to answer questions 2, 4, 5, 11, 15 and 16, no (thankfully about the interns, though I guess they could run the discord server)

so far every commander and deputy commander besides mr_stealy has been in ird since before there were official clans

We have never had any sort of no confidance vote and the closest there has been to impeachment was AMRAAM120Rx's disappearance.

I am tempted to do state of the clan adresses though, maybe quarterly.

we do however have a draft constitution which I will PM to you if you wish (it is a bit long for a normal forum post)

I'd be ok with the dress if he would just shave those hairy legs.

That does not count as a thread hijack, see the OCD recruitment thread for that. It was glorious. Thanks for the good wishes though.
