This is an original map in a game that has been out for over one and a half years now...yet people still don't seem to understand the dominant strategy.

It has long been proven and commonly shown that going for the cap is THE dominant strategy on this map and that moving towards the bridge runs the high risk of ending in futility. The cap is placed a good couple hundred yards away from the bridge and it is surrounded by various obstacles (buildings still can't be shot through, nor can terrain), allowing for tanks to cap relatively unmolested. Those bogged down at the bridge then have to fight both red team and the clock to avoid a quick loss, and even then quick movement won't guarantee a save.

But I continue to see teams stampeding towards the bridge to this day. Every time this map shows us, there's either a lemming train from green team or red team hurdling towards the foot of the bridge, then standing there for a few minutes before realizing that the other side is empty. Whenever I see the other team do this, I just cap and don't even bother completing the flank in hopes that this loss will teach them a lesson.

But no. There's always a pack of mules going for the bridge. Every game.

Its even more sad when there's a med shuffling towards the bridge along with the rest.

IDK why, but the bridge noobs are ALWAYS heavy tanks. Repeat offenders like E-100s, KV2s, and tier VIII Soviet heavies come to mind. In the meantime, I will sit in my ISU in a corner near cap, sit back, and simple point and shoot while watching them fall likenflies to the glorious finger of god

336 tanks in the garage!

Agree that cap is way to,go. All going cap is a good play. However, one or two heavies or TDs at bridge can hold up their lemming train for a long time, or if no one is there you have shots on cap approaches. Real problem is when everyone decides to "help" the bridge guard.

They think they can do a lot or "they're too slow." ...lazy bums. Once again, I wish to see someone like a heavy block the bridge instead of being useless by hiding. Therefore, when they die, enemies will be forced to turn back and we'll only have to pay attention to one side.

Perhaps the reason people choose different paths is because that that path has brought them victory in the past.
This is a simple human feature known as "selection bias".

When you lose so much, you remember the time you won.

When someone praises you, you remember that one thing they criticized you for doing it.

This is true; having a single sniper at the bridge can do a surprising amount of damage to people who go around the buildings at the cap. But like you were implying, saying "all go cap EXCEPT ONE" is a bit too much for the poor pubbies' brains, so generally "all cap" is what I usually say. I agree though, if it were an ideal game with 7 people on comms or whatever, having 1 go bridge ain't a bad idea at all.

Sad thing is, being the only medium on the team going cap, timer's at 30 and getting surrounded from all flanks. While everyone is murdered on the bridge and they blame you for not going bridge...

The developers even said in a news announcement that "base is the best way." I just tell that to my team if someone looks like they're going bridge. Maybe it won't change their mind this game. But maybe it'll humiliate them enough to think twice next time.

This was my point exactly. You can say this on about any map, that first red generally ruins team coordination.

I'll sometimes pop onto bridge in my Dragon and spot all the tanks going to bridge. Then run off to base knowing which tanks will be there

Bridge is horrible. It's only ever a good idea if you're 100% sure that nobody else is going to go bridge, then if you're in a fast medium or TD, there are some really good sniping spots, but there are better places to be in those kinds of tanks, like the cap.

That could actually be a good idea if half your team didn't follow you to bridge once they see you go.

Yeah one or two to hold the bridge or flank is a good idea, but everyone tends to follow you to the bridge, negating the strategy.   Better to just go base and have everyone follow you there.

I have tried to start moving towards base to get everyone going and then head towards bridge, but not very successfully.
