Why vents are trash

Vents are a very misleading piece of equipment and the majority believe that it improves all tank characteristics by 5% but this is not the case. The boost itself is only 2.5 because Wg sucks at explaining things.

Proof:

Now with vents

With vents my reload speed is 7.53.

If vents were to boost by 5% to everything my reload speed would be 7.35 because 7.74 x 0.95=7.35. So let's try 2.5 to everything

7.74 x 0.975=9.54 not exactly 9.53 but close enough. So as you can see the bonus from vents is actually around 2.5.

Mods for you PC tankers are XVM min map, Locastan's team hit pools (hp bars at top) and Melties math mod (sight)

I'm not sure you've given any evidence that they're trash. +2.5% to how many stats? It affects (afaik) ROF, accuracy, accuracy on the move or traversing, aim time, camo, view range, acceleration, and probably more. That's an overall boost of at least 7 X 2.5% or 17.5%, so it still seems better than pretty much every other piece of equipment. If you have specific stats you feel you need to boost, then fine go with other equipment. But a greater overall improvement to your tank does not seem to equate to trash.

yes but specialist equipment is overall better as the bonus won't be very noticeable while 10% faster reload with rammer or any other specialist equipment makes more difference. Vents is outclassed by better equipment and makes it a equipment that you use only if you have nothing else to put on. You always want to improve strengths before you make up for weaknesses,

I have no idea, but the vents effect crew skills.  I am then thinking those effect other things like speed, reload, etc.  5% to crew skills may not in that case translate directly to 5% reload.

Thanks Skittles, it took me awhile to absorb all your data... but your analysis and math are good.  Androyce does make a good point... must think about this some more.

The problem is that I must repeatedly buy and sell Vents to do any subjective comparison... and that still may not be revealing.  Oh what the hell... going to do battle.

Depends on what tank, and your play style 

 

Vents would be great on slow firing guns,  and it would even work on medium tanks as well.

Vents are useless, but on a 50% tank, with rations, cola, chocolate...it can really help.

Boost is 5% to crew all around and with that we can assume the bonus is the same because having it give a 10% boost to this and 2% boost to that doesn't make sense

You're assuming a 5% skill boost would equate to a 5% shift in the time on a 1-1 basis, when it obviously doesn't. And vents help with all crew skills, so traverse, aim, loading, sighting, etc, all benefit. 

Google "Rule of Large Numbers" and "Confirmation Bias" and stop posting complaints about MM.

I wish there was something like better fuel to make the engine more powerful (I'm not a car guy so idk what to do to make an engine more powerful)
