Is this tank good?  I really want a T30 so I am on this line.  I didn't see any threads about this tank so I figured I'd ask.  It's either this one or the JP2.  Problem with that is the top gun is 60K and I don't have that.  Is T28 P competitive at Tier 8?  How does it do in Tier 9?  Thanks in advance.

Similar to T28 in the way that it packs a punch and as the turret is tranversable a bit more of a threat. I could go in to stats and stuff but as a player i just went through this to get to the Top Tier so played the grind for the XP. Dont play it like a tank tho even if it has a turret cos u will die very quickly.

Is this tank good?  Yes, yes it is.  At tier IX, the gun still packs a punch, but you have to be careful about taking damage as your armor is not helpful against higher tier guns.  Plus, the gun carries over to the T28!  That's 60K you'll never have to spend again!

^^ Cool.  Its just I can buy 4 Tier 8s and I wanna make the right call.  It's between Pershing, T28 Prot, Caernaveron, and Jagdpather II.  Tough call.

Jagdpanther II is very overpowered.  If you're looking to get the jagdtiger and E 100 Jagdpanzer, then I'd say go for the jagdpanther II.

For me in this order:

1. Pershing

2. Jagdpanther II

3. T28 Prot

4. Caernaveron

But its a personal decision on how u like to play.

^^ I like the idea of having a Patton eventually...Tiers 9 and 10 look like good tanks.  I def want the German TD line fulfilled as well.  I heard the Caern grind is bad.  And T30 and E4 are something I want as well so yeah it's a tough call.  I just got Obj. 704 so I have been playing TDs a lot lately.  Choices Choices!!!!

Think of it as a turreted AT-2 that can't side scrape. It just has lots of mm of armor, not angled. Turret cheeks are weak, so hull down isn't really useful. And don't get flanked. You'll be dead. High tier guns can just rip through this tank.

The Jp2 is a MUCH better tank. The Proto for me was a grind, even though I Free Xped all of the stuff.  Until the crew gets fully trained the tank is pretty useless.  A lot of great people tooned me through the grind and it really wasn't much fun at all.

 

The JP2 is a hoot and the Pershing is a very good med at tier 8, especially if you can afford to use a lot of prammo.  However the T30 is totally worth putting up with the proto.

I think to make the right decision, you may need to look at what can hold its own against what. With 2.7 coming, it will most likely be the death of +1/-1 MM, so you really need to look at what can stand up to a Tier 10?  While the T28 Prot can still pack a huge punch, at teir 10, its armor is useless. The tank's slowness will cause it to be a bit defenseless out in the open since it can't hide quickly. That said, you will mostly be invincible against teir 6's

 

The JPII is very fast and mobile and the gun packs a good punch. It will not be as vulnerable to tier 10's because of its speed, but it's lack of armor will make is susceptible to still being killed by tier 6's.

 

The Pershing is a good all around tank. While I have not played it personally, I can say it's gun as the penetration needed to compete at the tier 10 level and the armor is enough to bounce some lower tier shells. It has the speed and maneuverablity to hold it's own in a tier 10 battle. It's downside is the tier 10 mediums firepower tends to out-match it.

 

The Carnarvaron.. Well, I personally have nothing good to say about it, but that's because I absolutely suck with it.

Okay, okay, fine. I will say the gun has good penetration, but its 190 damage a shot gets really annoying when trying to kill another heavy, especially the 10's. It's gun can do it, it just takes FOREVER.

 

As for the future, each of these tanks lead to a bigger, better tank. The most drastic change would be the JPII to the Jadgetiger. You go from fast and maneuverable to a brick.

The T28 is the worst 8 ever... but proto is a good tank.

While I don't have the Pershing, I do have(or have had) the other 3.  First choice would be the Jagpanther 2.  Great gun, speed and superstructure armor.  Chassis is very weak.  Second would be the Proto.  Guys up there pretty much nailed it.  Gun is great.  You can't depend on the armor at all and it's just about the slowest thing rolling.  But I'll have to say, it definitely doesn't deserve the crap people say about it. It's not that bad.  Caernarvan is lousy.  Gun is very accurate, has a quick reload and very good pen.  Alpha is just sad though.  It's not particularly fast though.  It's one of those tanks where you have to out land your target 2-1 to accomplish anything and as your armor isn't very good it's tough to do that.  I sold mine as soon as I finished the grind. But I do have to say that the Conqueror was definitely worth the time I spent in the Caernarvan.

I really want a Conqueror and the FV...so I will have to get through the grinds.  I actually decided to save my Credits for the IS-7.  I am so close to getting it, I might as well save up the 8 million and get the equipment for the Tier 10.   I got IS-3 D  so generating credits won't be so tough.  But after the IS-7 I decided to get the JP2 first out of my original list.

Im on the Proto right now.  Lets just say the only thing preventing me from selling this piece of sh-- is the T30.  1 win in 15 battles; have made profits all in the red.  I can't even get to my favorite TD spots because the speed is so ridiculously bad.  Had to free XP the 105mm because the 90 was 100% useless on everything.

 

Might be a beast maxed out, but Im feeling nothing but a bitter hatred from the very bottom of my heart for the T28 Proto right now.

^^ man sounds tough.  I am still able to buy 4 Tier 8 tanks.  Caernaveron, Pershing, AT-15, and T-28 Prototype.  But....I also have the Obj 268 researched.  So I might do the same thing I did before, which is save up to 8 million credits and buy the Tier 10.  I also want the Deathstar so the next Tier 8 I buy will be the AT-15.  The other guys will have to wait.  Also bought the JPII in between.  I am not doing very well in it.  I die almost every time.  I try to stay hidden but when I move to find a shot, they find me and kill me.  Tough tank to be good in with +2/-2.

I just picked the T28 Proto up last night. Not a carry tank, very-very team dependent. I think this is one for strong platoons only....and really wishing I went after it when we were +1/-1/

 

I only have a couple games in it but the lack of mobility forces a re-think of how you play the maps. Tide seems to be against slow tanks these days which makes it harder.

 

Anyone here have map spots to suggest and additional play tips?

I'm on it now and I can't wait to get to the T-30.

The tank is too slow but the top gun is good if MM doe snot give you tier X matches.
