Good info in this thread.   My next choice is T-44 or T28P.  Probably going to do T-44 first.

Jagdpanther II is very overpowered.  If you're looking to get the jagdtiger and E 100 Jagdpanzer, then I'd say go for the jagdpanther II.

If you don't want to be disappointed then stop your grind at the JagdPanther II.

The T28 Proto is boss though, you will not be disappointed.  The turret makes it a much more flexible and adaptable boom-stick.  It domainates the battlefield when top tier and even when playing against tier 10 you can inflict serious damage.  Primary advice would be to know that the sides are so thin they are easily overmatched by tier 10 guns.  Don't sidescrape; either your big front plate will stop the shot or it won't, but don't make the problem worse by trying to sidescrape in this thing.  You also have more gun depression than the standard T28, so use that when you can.  IMHO, griding the turretted line and then going back and doing the original US TD line is the better plan.

I just picked the T28 Proto up last night. Not a carry tank, very-very team dependent. I think this is one for strong platoons only....and really wishing I went after it when we were +1/-1/

I only have a couple games in it but the lack of mobility forces a re-think of how you play the maps. Tide seems to be against slow tanks these days which makes it harder.

Anyone here have map spots to suggest and additional play tips?

The entire US TD line is slow, so one of the key skills you should be learning from the T28 variants on up is how to read the minimap and make accurate predictions regarding where red will be 60 seconds from now.  The turretted line are support monsters, and the turretless ones are assault TDs the can be devastating if they can get up close and personal with the red team.

You are not a sniper anymore.  Don't think about map positions from which you can snipe, think about channels through the map and where red and green are going to go so that you can get an angle that lets you rain down support for anyone up front.  You are dangerous and slow so you tend to get avoided if red can't swarm you upon initial encounter -- you are going to be the last one alive in a lot of cases and take a lot of grief, ignore them.  You are a slow and steady bringer of death...

On Castilla if I spawn north and we're heading to the open hilly area there is a little hill just after the last buildings with a bush.  Every game in that line I've gone for that spot and done well.  The gun depression and that you can back up into protected cover make for a great support spot while heavies get drawn out and snipers get spotted.

Will the T28 proto benefit from the +/-1 mm that will come with 2.9?

From what I read in this thread it seems that it may be a decent TD if it wont see tier 10 anymore.

Is this tank good?  I really want a T30 so I am on this line.

Even if it isn't good think of all the E50(m) players who had to go through the Panther and Panther 2 to get what they wanted at tier 9/10.

I'm really looking forward to tiers 6 and 8 again.

Not really. It's of the tanks that does really well 2+ - not very well at all -2, and is easily killed by anything in the +1/-1 scenario - but it will be OK.
