Loving the IS-3 Defender and making a long list of tanks to buy with all the credits I am earning now. Looks like I am going to have to buy extra garage slots now. Lol

By the way anyone know if the IS-3 Defender gets Preferential Matching or will it be seeing tier X after the Update?

I've seen gameplay of Defender on one of the other servers. Poor guys got in tier 10 matches ;-;

Defender is an awesome tank though and is good credit earner, you just have to manage the very long clip reload.

IS-3 Defender is my go to Tank to generate credits. The last 8 days in a row I have generated over 1 million credits a night, almost exclusively in Defender. Win or Lose it prints credits. Make me feel like Kind Midas. I went from 12 Million credits and change to 20.7 Million credits in 8 days.

The only downside to this vehicle is the 25 second reload to get 3 more shells in the magazine. After that you get 3 shots with about 7 seconds reload. I try to time my reloads so I don't get caught empty, but it happens. Always best to be with other tanks and I always notify that I'm reloading and not afraid to ask for help if caught empty.

It is a Defender so it does play better as a standoff vehicle rather than trying to mix it up at close range, but I've nailed a few RU251's in close quarters combat (and they have killed me too often due to reload).

This tank is a turd.

Premium ammo magnet.

Everything pens it.

Ridiculous reload is a guaranteed loss if your team dissipates.

The Defender is a grate tank. A gun laying drive with vertical stabilizer a big plus. Reloading time not the best, still an enjoyable tank for a good game

Too bad it is only for a few people. From what I have seen, the IS-3D is head and shoulders over the IS-3 and most everything else in that tier.

The IS-3D hates me.  So, IMHO, you aren’t missing much.

1. Don't Necro old threads.

2. There is no such thing as posting a "forum" you are currently on the forums.

3. Go back to the forums Homepage, click on categories you are gonna post about and any sub categories.

Didn't get the Defender but now I wish I had. Going head to head with them is a nighmare in my poor T34 Independance. Gonna grab it when it comes back around.:)

I don't like the long reload time between shots (7.5 sec) with the auto-loader.  The Tier 10 US Heavy has only a 3.3 sec reload auto-loader.

Pros and Cons of the IS3-Defender.

Pros: Great turret armor, decent round deflection and a side scrapers dream boat. It prints credits and used with HEAT it becomes a beast. Great for facing off against the Rhm-B. at close range. Ram capable if you pick up spall liner (don't do this, it's a waste of potential and rnds/min). Treads eat lead so your hull doesn't have to. Fast enough to move into (and out of) harms way.

Cons: Extremely long reload times. 7.5 seconds between shots in a 3 round magazine followed by a 25 second reload for 3 rounds = 4 rnds/min +/-. During this time you have to hide a giant tank or side scrap and pray. Weak rear and side armor. Easy to pen top plate on turret (experienced players know what I am talking about).

I ground the trophies required to get this tank when it came out. I can highly recommend it with the caveats that you should be prepared to have a giant bull's eye on your back and long reloads (new Frenchy and American autoloaders are faster and produce more dam/min.).

Credit earning potential. "Bad" games are 50K+ for me in it. Typical is 80K+ and a really great night is 120K+. I can get a million credits out of it in 10-20 rounds of play if I am having an "on" night. :D

Hope this helps!

You two realize that the is3d grind is over and this question is no longer pertinent right?

Maybe the reload time of the Defender needs to be re-evaluated, something to think about...
