Ok, I bought the Jackson 2 days ago, quickly free XP the crack of the tank to buy the 90mm cannon and the turret. Great tank, Enjoyed it a lot.

Until today where Match Making started his game and matched me 98% of the times with tier 8 tanks. They shoot the metal cráp of mes with HE. There isn't much I can do with this scrub armor and gun that reloads like if it is a 105mm cannon. The gun is useless unless you spam prammo which cost 4,500 credits per shell! IS-3 just laugh my shells of and kills me with 1.5 shots (RAM+HE)

You may say "Carry harder" but how am I going to do so with a tank that gets penned with HE super easily, over that, it's slow as hell! I am almost at the point of rage selling. It either get a stronger frontal armor like it is supposed to or get preferential match making at least to tier VII. Is just a terrible punishment.

I went from T49 to Hellcat and Jackson.

Continued Hellcat up to T28 Prototype, which I rage sold.

Rage sold Jackson.

I recommend going up turreted line.

You got cocky based on high tier MM. Now you must really play this tank, you need to be support and sniper. It is fairly fast so easy to get too far extended. This is all from painful experience! It is a great tank though, and at end of game can act as a paper med. :justwait:

If you stick with quick, mid-tier American tank destroyers I strongly recommend you treat them as glass cannons and find the best spots to exploit bush mechanics while using mobility to support your team.

Also helps to add "thick skin" to your optional equipment since when you play the tank correctly (position where you can shoot at the tanks your team spots, use concealment to avoid getting spotted, put effective fire into the tanks that get lit up, and relocate to keep your gun in the fight); you'll find that teammates blame you for their yolo charge, or accuse you of camping for bothering to not get spotted, etc., regardless if you're top of the team on penetrating hits, damage, etc.

+-1 mm was the time to grind the prototype.  It went from my second least favorite tank to being actually quite good when there's no tier tens around

Its not a TD. Its an M4 with a troll mantlet and a 90mm gun. That's all you need to know. Oh, and the 90mm gun has FANTASTIC APCR pen. The Jackson is pretty effective in any battle low or high tier thanks to its mobility, turret, alpha damage, and APCR pen.I love my Jackson, got something like 3700 WN8 in it

I have mixed luck with the APCR ammo.  Since I was a real tanker and understand the capability of the 90mm gun.  The design by WOT Blitz is not realistic.  Historically few tanks survived one or two hits with the 90mm gun.  When M48A3s in Vietnam were used against T54/55, they killed them as did the IDF in desert.  I wish a 105mm gun could be added with APDS but that would ruin the game I suppose.

In any case the 90mm gun needs to be looked at again by the designers and get closer to the real thing.  I find it amazing that it takes many multiple hits on even any of the M4 series in the game.

This old tanker is not a happy camper.

Once you adopt the required hull-down / don't get shot mentality required, the Jackson can be phenomenal. I ground mine under +-2 and ended up with some of my best stats in any tank I've played (I think I'm #6 on the NA server.)

Great gun, even better gun depression and a troll turret... Happyhappyhappy.

Actually there ARE 105mm guns with APDS. Take a careful look at the Leo 1 or M48 Patton's ammo loadout screen. The 'APCR' ammo is actually APDS in the shell name

Sadly the game isn't based around realism or very few tanks would survive more than a couple of hits over Tier V.

Doesn't seem to me as War Gaming likes to be "realistic" as possible on the tank details and specs. The Jackson was well known for been slow, very armored and having a scary powerful gun.In this game, the gun is great, the speed is great but the armor is terrible. How can even a 20 mm cannon even manage to penetrate it's 108mm frontal armor!?

Indeed. WG changes tank specs in order to balance the game so historical accuracy isn't much of a consideration. Which is s pity because I'd love my centurion to be as good as it actually was historically. Those pesky T-54s wouldn't know what had hit them.

The tank I find is good on hills/burms and sidescraping.  At the mid tiers you can catch a lot of people off by sidescraping in a Jackson, etc.

American tanks are,.. reliable.  That's their niche.  Good all around.  To me anyway.

That's where I realize you don't know what your talking about. Wolverine and Jackson both have very weak side armor, gets penned with HE when having an angle of 5 degrees! Is sad that the tank is weak all around, plus it has to deal with tier 8's savage heavies.

Sit on a hill with a camo net and binocs and spot.  Pick the targets you can pen easily.  That's what I did/do in my Hellcat and T25/2.

That's because the 108mm of armor is that bulge on the front bumper where no one in their right frame of mind would intentionally shoot at.  Right above it on the flat is only about 20mm thick.

Jackson is a great tank. It's fairly mobile and has a hard hitting gun for tier 6. The frontal armor should protect you from most he shells as long as you don't show any side armor. For tier 8 heavies just load up apcr and don't get noticed or targeted by them and know that your mantlet can occasionally bounce a Russian 122. If you want an in depths view of the Jackson, go look at review of it that jingles made. It's pretty old, but it covers most of the stuff you need to know.
