Here is a pretty straightforward guide about nitro cars in general and how to run them:

http://nitro-rc-guide.blogspot.ca

Just as a heads up, regardless of nitro or electric, getting into the hobby requires a good amount of research and understanding in order to use your model properly and safely. If you are willing to do that work, it can be very rewarding. Its not like an rc vehicle you can get at a toy store. Hope this helps and good luck.

Seriously? Just piss off. You're a gross minded freak and I know what you said about both me and Adrienne1644, so please go away. I don't want to date you and neither does Adrienne. You are a creep and stop ruining my post.

Sounds like something went down for real.

Seriously though, just ignore the troll.

And anyway, about the RC truck: It can be a fun and rewarding hobby, but almost never a cheap one. An electric truck could be run for almost free for probably its entire life, but nitro trucks are more expensive to run. I haven't got one, but I have an electric truck and am an amateur mechanic, and I can say that their are certainly costs of maintaining these bad boys: shock oil, fuel, replacement tires (they wear down just like real ones), and other replacement parts. And by the way, parts wearing out/breaking is not always preventable by good maintenance and proper cars; sometimes it's just how the cookie crumbles. I had a motor and esc burn out on my truck, replacements set me back 100 big ones. I caved and bought the cheap set, so I will soon be dropping another 150 on a quality set. Which is another thing: if you choose to keep it, don't settle for cheaper parts as they are almost always lower quality.

Really you should not keep it unless you are ready for a challenge. If you are going to get rid of it though, you should consider selling it rather than giving it away. Those things cost big bucks.

Thanks for the input. I decided I was going to give it away and have emailed the "old man" (he's not old don't make fun of him, like 40's). I also won't be selling it as I didn't buy it and it was a prize so I might as well give it to someone for free.

Okay, first some basics. "NItro" when we are talking about fuel powered RC rigs like, is NOT NITROgen, which can be pumped and sealed into tires on real cars (like my XB), and some very advanced RC racers (which many times superglue the rubber tires down onto the wheel to keep the car or truck from just spinning inside the rubber tire and not move the vehicle).

That fuel can be messy, and require proper cleaning after several runs. Glow plugs have to be replaced after so many runnings, because they can gunk up or burn out.

Suspension parts can warp or break, tires and wheels break down, and only true hobby grade units offer replacement parts.

The radio control needs batteries in good power levels so as not to lose control of the car once it has the engine fired up and running, and a fuel powered car has to have a different kind of battery to get the glow plug to get hot enough to ignite the fuel, and then there is the question of the starter means, like a pull cord built in or outboard, or even an electric starter.

it canbe great fun, if you are dedicated to learning how to use it, and maintain it.

Not sure you want to commit to it?, did they offer a cash option or merchandise credit as an alternate reward?

Can you give us the name of the maker of this ride, and a model number or model name? A true hobbyist grade ride and supporting electronics are not cheap, so maybe ask if they will help you sell it for a fair price, instead of just giving it away unless you would really be happy with just doing that.

But stalking is, depending on your particular state's law. Either way, this is getting a little creepy.  Knock it off.

Start here, and then look at the other videos that progress up to actually running the truck.

This video is great in showing how these can run, the stupid way some people treat them, what it is like to try to start one up, lots of the supporting gear in action, pretty much cover things except for cleaning and mechanical maintenance or repairs.
