*** THIS looks long, but it is an easy read and ALL QUESTIONS are answered in this for Clan Wars I ***

CLAN WARS for DUMMIES

Map Selection:

  • For Clan Wars I, all clans were ranked by their WN8 and assigned to maps in blocks of 20.  In the future, we hope to have an ELO rating system, but that data won’t exist until after Clan Wars I.
  • Once the 20 clans were assigned to a map, a random number generator (RNG) was run to determine which color each clan was assigned and the associated tiles.
  • Each clan starts with 3 adjacent tiles that have a combined value between 5 and 7 points.

General Game Play:

  • There are 5 turns in Clan Wars I.
  • Each turn is 48 hours followed by a 24 hour period of reporting battle results and declaring new attacks (on the forum).
  • Clans may attack once (1) per turn and defend up to as many tiles as they own.  You are not required to attack, but you are required to defend.
  • Each tile can only be attacked once (1) per turn.

Declaring Attacks:

  • Before a turn starts, clans must declare their top five (5) attack choices on the appropriate forum post.  Attack plans will be granted in the following manner:  Tiles we be reviewed for being contested (more than one attacker) and an RNG will be run to determine who gets the attack.  If you don't get the attack, your next choice in line will go through the same process and so on until all conflicts have been resolved.  Remember you will only be awarded one (1) attack despite submitting 5 options. If all 5 of your tile attacks have been taken you can resubmit new choices.
  • It is possible and likely that Clan A and Clan B will attack the same two adjacent tiles during one Turn.  Battles need to be clearly labeled which tile is being contested per battle.  Both battles are independent of one another regardless of when they take place (armies pass in the field)

Scheduling Battles:

  • The attacking team is responsible for coordinating the battle time and setting up the appropriate training room for the battle to commence.  Once a time is determined, the teams have up to 10 minutes after that time to start their first match.
  • Training room names must be clear.  The best format is “your clan name vs. their clan name” such as “CWNA - SRT vs GRIM”.
  • If either the attacking or defending team does not show at the agreed battle time, the showing team is declared winner after 10 minutes of waiting for them.  If clans are non-responsive or cannot agree to a time, please contact an umpire who will set a neutral time that you are required to report to.  Be sure to get a screenshot verification of the no-show with a time.
  • If at least 3 members of the opposing clan show up by the 10 minutes, they have another 10 minutes to start the battle.  (Keep in mind, people have life commitments).  However, even if they show and can not start by 20 minutes, they will be forced to forfeit.

Reporting Battle Results:

  • At any time during a turn, or after it has been completed; clans may report the battle results on the same post that they declared their attack intentions.  Screenshots are helpful, but unless there is some contention the honor system should work fine.
  • It is the responsibility of the winning team (be they the attackers or defenders) to report the results of the battle before the deadline of 3am EST after the Turn ends.
  • Failure to report results before the appropriate turn deadline results in no change of tiles (therefore failure to report is in favor of the defender).

Tile Dynamics:

  • Each tile has an identification number, a set in-game map (shown by a letter in a box), the number of points that tile is worth (shown by a number in a circle) and the adjacent tiles that it may attack or defend against (shown by arrows on the tile borders).
  • If a tile is attacked and the attacker wins the battle, they gain control of that tile in that turn.  If the attacker is repelled, the defender retains control of that tile.

Scoring & Prizes:

  • Each tile has a point value (displayed on the tile in a circle).  Point values are assigned based on two criteria; the strategic location of the tile and the number of borders a tile has.
  • Points are awarded to the tile-owner at the end of each turn.
  • Points accrue at the end of each turn and are the sum of the points of the territories you hold when the turn ends.  At the end of 5 turns, the clan with the most total accrued points wins.  Please be clear that scoring is by points, not by the amount of territories owned.
  • The top scoring clan on the Alpha and Beta maps will receive 2000 gold for each clan member who participates in a battle during clan wars (get screenshots!).  The same applies to second place with a 1000 prize.  On Gamma map, first place is 1000 gold and second place is 500 gold.
  • Any ties for first place will be settled in a special, “best of 5” match.

Battles Dynamics:

  • A battle is either an attack or a defense on a tile.  Each battle is the “best of 3” matches on the map specified by the defending tile.
  • A match is defined as 7v7 players using Tier X tanks on the map specified by the tile.  However, if the battling clans agree to it, you can change your number of players, your tiers of tanks, and the maps- but any disagreements then default to the above guidelines.
  • There are no limits to what tanks are used in a battle.  A clan may field any number of any kind of tanks they so choose.
  • The attacking team selects the first battle side (either Team A or Team B) and the clans rotate sides each match thereafter.
  • Clans may substitute players between matches at will as long as they have the appropriate clan tags.
  • A Draw is a "throw out" match and does not count as one of the 3.  That said, using glitches or known “hiding spots” to force a draw is forbidden.  If this happens, send a screenshot to an umpire and the results will be overturned.
  • If a team cannot field all 7 players, the battle will still commence!  It is the duty of the clans to bring their teams!  If you don’t, you may end up in a 7v5 battle.
  • Any issues or clarifications, contact an umpire on discord (info below).

Player Guidelines:

  • Only players with the exact same clan tags may compete for a clan.
  • Players may not compete for more than one clan during Clan Wars I, regardless of whether they change their tags.  If an illegal player is found within any match during a battle, the entire turn is forfeit!

LAG, AFKs, MODs and other Unfortunate Things:

  • If you are in battle and something happens that causes a problem, try to work it out with the other clan (we suggest restarting the battle).  However, if there is a problem get an umpire involved (just go to discord, we have lots of umpires).  If you unilaterally decide to leave the battle or other, the match will likely be determined against you.
  • There is supposed to be a hot fix coming, but lag is a legitimate issue in training rooms right now.  Most of the really bad lag happens right at the start of a match and usually affects both sides.  If serious lag happens, chat still works fine and you should inform the players of the issue and take a screenshot for proof.  The best thing is to agree to reset the match, but if you have a disagreement you should contact an umpire.
  • AFKs on the other hand are unavoidable and any AFKs are fair game if it is not an all-server lag.  Make sure you have a reliable connection!
  • MODs of any kind are not allowed (such as hit skins).  Everyone is expected to play “vanilla Blitz”.  Outside apps (such as discord and teamspeak) are of course fully permitted and encouraged.
  • Any other acts of RNGesus please try to work out yourselves… but you may always contact an umpire in Discord if you cannot come to an agreement.

Umpires and the Council:

  • Umpires are available to help you quickly fix disputes during battles.  There are commonly at least 2 umpires in the Discord channel during the day.  Contact them for any clarifications of disputes you have.
  • The Council is comprised of 5 members who have agreed to be neutral in all situations ad provide definitive "rulings" so that the games may continue.  They also created the format, the maps and the rules, so they are the most versed on the games as a whole.  If there is a dispute, the council will vote on a course of action to fix the dispute.  All decisions by the council are final.

  • We highly recommend recording and streaming your battles!  Many tankers are very excited to see their clans and other top clans compete!

Thank you for spelling all this out. I never seen/done anything like this so this helps immensely. Will there be any plans for some sort of central site or thread to post vids of the battles? Or at least, somewhere where players can indicate that have clan wars vids up? Asking a lot, I know.

Not currently.  If things go smooth enough we might be able to swing that as we go.  Regardless, I know some of the official WG folks will be watching for content and may feature some.  Will see how it goes

This looks well put together, and I congratulate all of you who put time and effort into creating this on such a detailed level. BRAVO.

Though I will not be participating, I also wish all of you the best of luck. This could really equal something good for Blitz.

Unifying TRIARII factors:

1.How much money we've spent on this game (not to mention the new parking garage required for all of our M 60's)

2. The amount of alcohol consumed while playing tanks.

3. How much fun we have with, and at the expense of, each other

If a mod offers not tactical advantage (like aesthetics) then I don't think anyone will have an issue.

I did. I saw your comments from earlier and wasn't impressed.

Not my fault you had the lowest WN8 on the map.

Sorry.

Is it too late to register? Tried to hop on discord to ask but the room invite has expired.

Edit, I know were on the map but wasn't clear on if we are automatically in or if we have to fully declare.

They didn't before they pulled in 3 people over 2700 WN8.

The numbers I had were 2688 and 2744 for PURPL and 501DV respectively.

If they do well on Beta map they'll be in Alpha next go around.
