I'm currently grinding the is4 line and am at the Sti, but only because the Sti is totally fricking derp. (Based off of fighting them) I find the is7 better. The 130mm on the gun really fcks you up, not to mention it has the highest penetration of any tier ten heavy tank. The is4, however, has only equivalent armor and can still be penetrated if your looking even slightly down at it. There's nothing special about the gun, and it's also less agile.

question, why are you in tier 10 with barely 6k battles (wotbstars stats: http://wotbstars.com...&geo=NA&lng=eng) your stats hurt my eyes. Maybe drop down a couple of tiers?

When someone says the IS-4 has terrible frontal armor, you know they don't angle well.

You've got good stats, but you're talking about a tank that you don't even own.  :sceptic:

The IS-4's frontal armor isn't terrible, it's unreliable.  This encourages a particular kind of play-style that's different from the IS-7.

There is no point of keeping a tank you don't enjoy. The stats aren't that important after all.

For example I do ok in the Tortoise, better than in IS-8. But I really dislike the Tort and I will sell it as soon as I unlock the 183, which is very soon :). But I kept IS-8 because I like that tank. I do have both IS-4 and IS-7 and I do enjoy both, but they are very different in the playstyle. I guess IS-4 is just simply not your kind of tank. Get something you enjoy...

No one successfully used IS-4 in CW. IS-7 can bounce heat off the front plates, IS-4 is just a flat surface that can be penned by any gold round.

Exactly.  This is why the IS-4 requires a defensive, side-scraping, or triangulating play style, which FOR ME, was too frustrating.

As far as constantly "triangulating", that needs to be something that is automatic.  Like any number of things, current meta and situational awareness should be your main focus and engaging proper scrapes, angles, hull downs and ammo type should be second nature.  That really only comes with practice which it sounds like you were getting quite a bit with your IS4.  In the end though the game is about having fun and if it's not a fun tank, don't play it.  If you ever feel like you want to try again you can submit a ticket and get it back.

I very rarely see these things in Tier X games. They do have a very large health pool, but in games with so many JagE100 and 183s... that means very little.

Okay so here's my 2cents... The difference between the IS-7 and IS-4 is that the IS-7 is more forgiving, while the IS-4 is not.

you really don't need to do much in the IS-7 to bounce shots off you, and if you have paitence in aiming, you'll kill your opposition anytime. The IS-4 on the other hand, is for the few that can appreciate the art of angling. Frontal armour is weak, yes, but only when not angled properly. Master that, and you'll be unstoppable.

i'm just about 550-600 games in my IS-4 and I just started to get use to this tank. I use to be in love with my IS-7, which has about 1200 battles on it, but I must honeslty say, that when you know how to rock te IS-4, you're unstoppable.

The battle is not for the swift, but those who can endure...

It's weird, but I hardly see the IS4 in public matches. I ran into one yesterday while running my IS8, and almost crapped my pants. My team was off dealing with the rest of the Reds, so I took it upon myself to hold the IS4 from flanking until I could get reinforced. What ensued was by far the most epic brawl I have ever been in. Both of us were bouncing shots left and right, but at the end of it, I came out on top. He left me with 56 health and a lot more confidence in my abilities as an IS driver lol I swear I won't ever forget that battle

LOL, he must have been either really bad or unlucky. IS-4 can easily take on IS-8. He should've had about half HP left at least after that. Good for you!

Probably used the D-25 without APCR to bounce that many shots.
