What is the difference with the Churchill I besides the gun? How are the credit earnings on this tank? Is it worth getting?

Thanks!

Well, the Churchill III compared to the Churchill I, it is basically a Russian biased up armored not so slow good MM less prone to track damage Churchill I! I feel like it plays like the Churchill VII, at a tier lower. Oh yeah, buy it. I heard it also has one of the highest credit incomes of tanks in game.

So-o-o-o slow, both moving and turret.

I don't lose credits or exp very often in it. But, I just had a typical match. I got caught by a Kuro Mora Mine that just strolled right up along side of me, after I had tracked him once and put one into his lower glacis, then he just moved around faster than I could rotate the turret and kept tracking me.

I repeat, maneuverability is not a problem for me.

Makes credits and xp (not that I ever converted any) but fairly outclassed now with all the fast tanks around.

Its an excellent tank.  I actually think its more Black Prince at Tier V than Churchill IIV at tier V since it shares a similar fast firing gun style as the Black Prince and is quicker than the regular Church and the IIV.  I don't play it all that often anymore since I have a lot of tanks now and I am addicted to the playing the Crom B.  Its one of the better tier V heavies.  Get in the fight and keep that gun firing.

I want to like it - I really do. But, I guess it's just like the seemingly overbalanced team selections. You got to take a lot of bad to occasionally get a little good.

I'd like to watch one of the "expert" Churchill tankers pull a team win out of the games I seem to get. Please teach me a lesson.

Game starts on Vinyards and green goes ruins, except for our only JPanther, which goes to town and is never heard from again. I follow team. As I am almost to the crest among the ruins a red Cromwell runs in from my right side, obviously surprised to see me. I get one shot into it and then another as it runs away toward the radio tower. I then proceed on into the ruins to find a firing position based on the red markers that are popping up. Green team goes flying past me chasing the damn rabbit (Cromwell). Red is moving in to my front and right. I get 2 shots into an SU-100 without getting return fire. As I back up a damaged T-43 comes around my left rear and misses with his first shot. I get one into it. T-43 tracks me. I get another shot into him. I'm on a sliver of red health. I'm able to turn face on to the T-43 who, luckily, misses his next shot. I shove my cannon in his face and end the game for him. It's at that point that the previously mentioned SU-100 comes up behind me and ends my game.

Now, tell me how your ballet like maneuvering in the Churchill would have won the day.

Determined to get a win and the X2 exp in my Churchill I have played it one battle after another. I probably had 6 or 7 defeats where I was the last green alive against at least 4 reds, with the end obviously inevitable. Then 2 draws, Then another defeat. Then finally a green team win, but the battle flowed away from me so fast that I got maybe 2 shots before the game ended. The Churchill is just too slow.

You probably need to do two things better: predict the flow of the battle and use your tracks more effectively.

Some basic tips:

  • You should be baiting shots and eating shots with the tracks.
  • You are not a fast tank, so getting tracked is not the major calamity it is in other tanks.
  • You are not a fast tank, but always be moving.
  • Always wriggle your hull when advancing, never just drive straight at someone.
  • Sidescrape and use hard cover for protection, always be moving from one piece of hard cover to another.  Green tanks and dead red tanks count as hard cover.
  • Remember that your left front is where the weak point is and try to come around cover on the right side so that you are exposing the right side of your upper glacis and not the left.
  • Load a lot of prammo to take care of KV-1, brit TDs and similar heavily armored tanks at tier and above, credit coefficient should make up for the cost.
  • Learn to aim for drive wheels, you are a perma-track monster with your rate of fire and you should always be trying to put the first shot into a drive wheel to fix your target in place so that you can tear them apart.
  • Do not try to peek-a-boom with someone, if they are doing that to you then either relocate or push hard on them so that after taking the hit you can continue to engage them and destroy them during reload.
  • Rammer and vents are a given, for third slot either toolbox (see "eat shots with tracks" above) or optics to see them first and provide more time to prepare your plan.

After reading this I had to go back and check and discovered that my Church III had dropped below an 80% win rate, so time to run it again and fix that.

The Churchill III is an average tier 5 credit earner, maybe slightly above. But it is a tier ten experience earmer. It is slow but the gun is very powerful and the armor is great. But you have to over angle the front to bounce well. It is usually a very feared tank and if you are thinking of buying you will probably like it.

I mostly played it when it was +/- 2 and it was kick [edited].  Slow rolling death machine.  Angle and scrape, absorb the track hits, and pummel your foe.  Keep pushing and force the other guy to run so your teammates can slap them around too.  It also prints decent money.
