I had previously owned a Crusader, sold it and recently bought it back.  I didn't do too well first time around. Hopefully, I've learned a lot, but it seems the top gun, even with prammo doesn't stand up well to the KV's. Does very little damage even if you pen. I do much better in the Covenanter against it's tier opponents.    Just wondering if this is an accurate perception of the gun?

Its a dpm machine you supposed to shoot at distracted targets and if you can out spot them shoot em up. Its best to shoot the kvs sides amd rear of course. But if not shoot the top of the front of tank. Where vier port and gun it. Prammo could help as well

Has better DPM than the T-34. Seriously OP. The pen is plenty good too. Firing on the move is a breeze because the hull is very stable on all sorts of terrain.

I own 207 tanks. My records at Blitz Stars!

Not much damage per shot, but you do that damage every 2.6 seconds if you stack up rammers, vents etc. You should be able to rip a tank to shreds before they can reload.

totally.  perma-track a KV1 from side or rear w a Crusader and the KV1 is done like dinner.

Funny you say that about KV-1  Just killed KV1 in my last battle along with Leopard and Matilda. KV1 actually messaged me good "relocation".

This is what you do in a Crusader.  Run away and relocate.  I spotted the entire red team on Dead Rail and ran away to relocate.  T28 stood and fought and his game lasted all of 30 seconds.

Crusader has some of the best DPM in the game and it fast with great cammo.  You need to constantly be relocating and getting behind heavies. If you are trading hit points you are doing it wrong in a light or medium tank.  As soon as someone is firing at me I am relocating and popping up somewhere else to take a shot.  KV1 and Matilda you need to get on the side or behind them.

  • If you light bulb does off relocate
  • Don't fight in the open.
  • Take out easy tanks first. Leave the heavies for the end of the game.
  • Take shots of opportunity.  If a heavy is going to sit in the open track him.
  • Use your superior ROF.  If a KV1 fires you can get 2 maybe 3 shots off before he can shot again.
  • Your gun is wickedly accurate.  Track heavies.  Get use to tracking tanks especially if you have friendly tanks around. You get 50% of the damage credit.
  • Don't trade hit points
  • If a heavy is facing you relocate.  You need to be on their side or back.
  • Let your team mates be your meat shield. Use their hit points.

I got past it using a lot of HE on red lights and meds. Out of all the tanks I've driven in that line so far I've hated the Crusader the most.

Players who oppose DogFace can feel the cold, metallic, 122 millimeter end of my IS-6’s gun to

their face, and say bye bye to their precious RatBat as their dead body is dragged into a dark

corner to be left for the wolves.

57mm HE works at tier two, not tier five. I carry none in my crusader. Not surprised that you hated it, if you played it like that.

The crusader might be even better that the m4 now. Even if it only does 90 damage its pen and dpm more than make up for it. You are not supposed to penn a heavy *easily from the front ever.

Crusader - light tank camo; smallish turret, 12 degrees gun depression; among the best in tier 5 DPM; not super fast top speed, but very quick and nimble, now has 130 AP pen.

All told, it is one of the best tier 5s in the hands of a good driver.

With 180 APCR pen, front of a KV1 isn't really a problem.  Just don't get hit by that 85mm.

The big problem is that the 12 degrees is only over the side.  When the gun is between the front wheels, you're stuck with a measly 7 or 8 degrees.  It's certainly a reasonable tank, but a bit more than 1K damage per battle will get you into the top 100 for the Crusader, whereas you need more than 1.2K for top 100 in the M4.

M4 is more noob friendly.  Crusader has high upside in the hands of a good player.  I sucked in crusader my first go round.  mid 40s WR and about 500 average damage.  I repurchased and have been running at aprox. 65% WR and 950 damage.  Not killer damage for tier 5, but respectable for me and my middling light tank skills.

The OQF howitzer reminds me of trying to hit my kid brother from 100 paces with a slingshot back in the day. Beautiful arc.
