Heya Tankers!

I wanted to let you know about some of the upcoming tournaments and some of the changes you will see.

Changes

  • Instead of an overall prize pool that is divided between the winners, there will be set prizing per place.
    • The challenge with this is the initial number you see on the tournament screen. I can put 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 or 9 as inputs and then I select Gold, Credits, or Free XP as the icon. The prizes will be variable as a total due to the prizing per player.

  • Control types will be split for most of the tournaments. Touch controls will have one tournament and Keyboard and Mouse will have a second. They will run at the same time and have the same prizing and rules.

  • We will restrict the tiers to 9-10 for most of the tournaments. There is a new check in place at registration that requires the team to have a tank that fits the tournament restrictions in order to confirm their participation.

Scheduling and Types

  • It is looking like there will be an average of 2 tournaments per week
  • The majority of the tournaments will be 2 day tournaments (Blitz Brawl - Battlegrounds Style)
  • We will have two Tier 7 Tournaments
  • Supremacy for all the tournaments

So that is what I can share for now - keep an eye out on the tournaments menu. Prizing is still a bit low but it is what it is. I am still fighting to get it a bit higher.

Supremacy is still what is being pushed so - expect to see lots of that.

As far as I know here is what is working and I will continue to do unless given other feedback - if anyone has feedback or suggestions let me know here!

  • 23 Hour registration window ending 1 hour before the start of the tournament
  • Tournaments start at 17:00 PST and usually run ~ an hour and a half.
  • For a single stage tournament (Blitz Brawl Style) - 128 teams seems to be a good number
  • For two stage tournaments (Blitz Brawl - Battlegrounds Style) - 256 teams seems to be a good number
    • I am worried about splitting the KB/M and Touch control crowds - putting the KB/M version down to 128 teams.

If there are 2 tournaments per week and there are two tier 1-7 tournaments, does that spell the end of high tier tournaments?

Or do you mean there are only 2 tier 1-7 tournaments for the month and everything else is tier 8-10?

They will have their own tournament, but so few people play it on most clans I am afraid it will be empty. I know only a few people in my can who do use it.

Correctly read! PC and Mobile will be separated in tournaments.

Well I suppose technically it will be 4 tournaments a week. 2 KB/M and 2 Touch controls.

But yes the two tier 1-7 tournaments means that there will be 2 for the month.

For most of the tournaments this month, that is correct. There will be a few that allow mixing.

If that's the case then that will divide clans.

501's strongest team has people that play on KBM and our caller, a damn good one at that is a KBM player. I really hope this isn't how things will be from now on

Personally, I do not like the idea of running multiple tournaments at once. It's hard filling up a 128 team. I don't think there will be much success running 2 tournaments at once especially if there is no in-game news or notification.

One suggestion I have is to try having some tournaments later in the evening. 5 pm on the west coast can be hard for people with jobs, family, etc.

I am not a fan of it - but they want data on how these thing do. So I am expecting some tournaments to outright fail to get to the 64 team minimum. That will mean they do not run at all.

Time to start up that iPad and get to training on it.

I mean, lets be real, there's absolutely no advantage playing on kb/m, am I right? Shouldn't you still have the strongest team but with touch only?

Not a fan of splitting controls. I can assume that most clans have 1-3 KBM players, but not enough to make a whole team. I doubt there are 7 KBM players within all of 501 (120 players, give or take). The thing is though, two of our best players are KBM and our main team suffers greatly when they can't play. Please keep both controls together.

Bruh, it's ok, we'll do well with or without it. Obviously we'd do better with KBM as two of our players are accustomed to it.

Now if only we could get our caller to be able to spectate tourneys... Is that possible sly? Have 1 spectator allowed per team?

Not that I believe KBM is that much of an advantage but oooookkkkk.

Sly, is it possible to confirm that the split will only be temporary? While some may say its easy to move to one platform or the other, some use one platform simply because they dont have the other. If it would be temporary, say a month, then we will show them the data and how badly it will fail them. Not to say that we wont participate, but it will severely hurt the system they've put in place and anyone's faith in tournaments. If they are temporary, we will appropriately deal with it until they are rejoined. After all, thats why they brought the game to PC and Steam anyway.
