I currently own the ARL 44, and I wanted to ask veterans of the tank what the best upgrade path is. For people just starting out in the ARL 44, playing the tank stock is atrocious, so choosing the right upgrades in the right order seem paramount to me. I decided to go with the (1) tracks, (2) turret, then the (3) 90 mm F3. I now have to decide to go for the engine or the next gun.

I notice that the ARL 44 has four guns to choose from, including the stock gun. I see the benefits of upgrading to the 90 mm F3, and eventually to the 90 mm DCA 45, but I don't see the appeal of the 105 mm Canon 13TR. On paper it looks much worse. Is this the case in actual gameplay? I figure WG wouldn't put in a completely useless gun if no one wanted to use it...

Anyway, just post your opinions on the best upgrade path to help out fellow ARL 44 drivers.

I'd say engine > top 90mm > 105mm. The engine helps loads with mobility, which the ARL needs due to its lack of great armor. The second-to-last 90mm is still great for tier 6, and is actually better than the top 90mm in some key aspects. The 105mm has the worst stats out of all three guns, the only redeeming factor being the high alpha.

My upgrade path was Turret> 2nd 90mm > Engine > Tracks > Top 90mm > 105mm

this is probably the best route, with the caveat that either top gun works well.

i used the 105 for the first hundred games, and have started my way to another 100 with the top 90.

i can say so far its a solid weapon, the gun handling is noticeably better than the 105, while module damage is noticeably lessened.

also tried out the stock turret for a game, after i was looking at it in the garage i forgot to put my tank together again properly. tough match that was.

I am looking at the same issue. I have so far I have upgraded the turret,  because the stock turret looks so atrocious, but now I need to choose between upgrading the gun or the engine.

I gather that the track upgrade is usually recommend to be last for most tanks, but as think in this case, it ought to be considered because it is only 1/3 of the XP compared to gun or engine upgrades. All comments welcome.

Veterans of the tank. It's been out like a week so anyone that's had it for any amount of time free xp'd it all in the first place :-)

I just bought it and I golded the crew and it's faster than the BDR stock and I got top damage in it on Himmelsdorf in a Supremacy match.

I guess the turret upgrade is a good thing to bring the silhouette down but you get like a 10mm frontal upgrade which is probably only on the mantlet and the sides get thinner so we'll see.

i'll see about the guns as I prefer the Derp gun on the Waffletraktor over the 128 and it sounds from you guys like this would have similar comparisons.

Also Bushka's just released a video on it so I'll watch that first before making any upgrades.

Definitely no atrocious on my first game. the fully upgraded one with me got half the damage so I think it's partly down to the driver.

Did anyone notice much difference with the top engine or is it better to go for the guns first?

I went tracks as the traverse change looked like it (and was) improved quite markedly.

Stock frontline speed is good, however it slows to a snails pace when you turn from a standstill.I would go turret>tracks>2nd 90>engine>3rd 90>105
