Here's my entry. It's a weird pull-toy thingy I built. I was trying to model it after the T-34 but it turned out to look more like the KV-2 so.........

It has a 360 degree rotating cylinder turret capable of turning clockwise and counterclockwise. It's gun is ~10mm in real life, but would be much bigger if it is bloated up to a real tank size. It has no tracks, sadly. Just wheels. And there are "gas tanks" at the back.

In the early days of WWIII, Soviet Union and East German forces crashed across the Fulda Gap with such suddenness and ferocity that large numbers of equipment and munitions were captured before they could even be readied for combat.

While utilizing some of the stronger captured NATO AFVs as-is, the inability to resupply these units with new munitions or properly maintain the complex fire control electronics pressed Russian planning bureaus to create other stopgaps.  In the case of the many reserve-status Leopard 1 MBTs, Bloc forces found the MTU MB 838 multi-fuel engine exemplary in performance and reliability, and the suspension systems to greatly exceed many of their own designs in function.  The Morozov Design Bureau proposed the solution to integrate readily-available T-80 turrets into the larger turret ring of the Leopard 1 chassis by means of an expediently engineered insert, which included not only the smaller turret ring, but also mounted the full autoloading mechanism of the 2A46-2 125mm gun.  Retrofitting was undertaken at the Malyshev Factory in Karkhiv, Ukraine, with a total of 118 such modifications.  The first of these units were deployed in Tuscany with reserve elements of the 57th Guards Motor-rifle Division, engaging in the latter half of the Southern Italian Offensive.

Here's my drawing of a Canadian Tank Destroyer, the Whitehorse (yes a Canadian name too lol)

The Whitehorse has a 120 mm cannon, which packs quite a punch. However, it's firepower comes at the cost of armour. For the most part, its frontal armour is good, with a large part of the front sloped (which has 70 mm of armour). It does have two weaker areas of armour in the front; the higher plate, with 50 mm of armour and the lower, more angled plate with slightly less armour, at 45 mm. The sides of the Whitehorse have 50 mm of armour, and the rear has 30 mm of armour. The side armour does have one advantage, however. Due to the spacing of the wheels in the tracks, there was a large area left in the middle. This allowed the placement of 70 extra mm of armour near where the ammo is stored, which made ammunition explosions rarer in the Whitehorse than in other Tank Destroyers.

I put two images in case one might've been clearer for some reason. Also, if the specs seemed a little weird, I don't know an insane amount about tank armour and stuff lol.

Good luck to everyone! The entries so far all look awesome in their own ways (especially that KV-2 pull-toy tank thing :teethhappy:)

Back when my son was in Cub Scouts we were pretty good at the Pine Wood Derby. I helped him a little with his car and almost always made an entry of my own for the parent competition. Up to this point my favorite creation was an RC-XD... Until now. I had a spare pine kit laying around so I decided to try my hand at making a tank. Here is my pinewood take on the T-34-85. I went with the shorter barrel gun so that it would fit within the pinewood regulations.

T-34-85. Fully upgraded but running the 122mm derp gun.

How did I make it?

  • Chassis and turret were carved from pinewood.
  • Bow machine gun is a pencil eraser and a nail.
  • Main gun is a dowel with a hole drilled in it.
  • Gun mount is a mixture of PVC pipe and JB weld epoxy.
  • Commander's hatch is a mixture of PVC and JB weld epoxy.
  • Engine deck is wire mesh.
  • Sleeping bag is cloth and wire.
  • Spare tracks are lead weights.
  • Engine exhaust pipes are cut from a number 2 pencil.
  • External tanks. Construction paper and JB weld epoxy.

Enjoy.

Entries look amazing! I'll add Diablo's and JoTheGreat's entries, but I can tell you right now without theirs (haven't scored them yet), the difference between 1st and 2nd is currently .125!
