The upgrade that has brought us the is-6 is inequitable.  The tank cannot be penetrated by most level VIII guns.

Armor on the IS-6 is strong because it is a heavy tank. It is no less strong than the IS-3 at the same tier. It isn't Tier IX because it has a mediocre gun that does okay against Tier IX's, but would bounce every single Tier X tank except maybe a Patton. If it got into Tier X battles, no-one would ever buy the IS-6, therefore money loss to WG.

This.

Just hit the upper rim of turret or the flat spot on top of their turret, If they are away from you they have to stop  for 2 seconds static in order to aim for you so you shoot their top part. Easy penetration trust me on that. Also try to keep them away so you don't give them the luxury of utilizing their best characteristics. Of course, if that IS6 driver is WOT VET then just do your best against him.

"When I get home and people ask me,'Hey, Hoot, why do you do it, man? What are you? Some kind of war junkie? I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you. And that's it. That's all it is."

You can not bleed with a man and not form a bond.

IS-6 is overall harder to penetrate than the IS-3. I agree that it would not belong at tier 9, however.

not true, my KV-5 pen the IS-6 rather easily in a brawl. The IS6 has weak spots, you just need to know how your tank can get to them. In a brawl the KV-5 beats up on the IS-6 rather easily and the KV-5 has somewhat low pen. The is -6 is not as strong as it seems.

Russian: IS-6, T-35-85 Victory, IS-7, IS-4, KV-5, Valentine II, SU-85i, LTP

Well your KV-5 also looks downwards on the IS-6 so the slope is effectively neutralized.

i dont like the IS-6 much as a brawler anyway. More of an aggressive mid range fighter and for the exact same reason i just stated. It is so low that alot of things can shoot down on that "flat" plate, then ther is the hatch weakspot that plagues my other favorite tank the ST-I to worry about. All of these flaws are negated at mid range combat where your miniscule weak points will be a pain for the enemy to snipe at. Despite the fact this tank has great armor does not kean it should be played like it. Its a flanker like my beloved IS-8 down to having near the same ROF.

On topic: this thing should never be tier 9. 175 pen cant even go throuh the maus' side armor and you will have troubles shooting the rear even

Tank Terminators

Message me for invites if you wish. 50% or higher win ratios tier 8 and up.

first there are no tier 9 premiums even in PC, second i can pen the lower frontal armour on the IS-6 with the long 10.5 on my tiger 2 with out APCR, third most IS-6 drivers(as with most tier 8 premium drivers as well) are noobs they either just rush to cap and get killed or lead a charge in a tier 10 game and also get killed

Tanks currently in garage:

Match a (from last time I checked) 170mm pen gun with tier 9 battles? That would be so much worse than a KV3 in a tier 9 battle

T2 Light =  T34T18 = T82 = M36 Jackson = Pz.38(t) nA = Tiger (P)  = E50=  E75 = Jagdtiger M3 Lend Lease = T-44 Cromwell

Tier Xs - E100

wow

There is more to the weekness of the IS-6 besides the hatch and shooting down at the front plate, that at mid range can be hit.

If a IS-3 had a duel with a IS-6 who happens to be shooting gold, I would put my money on the IS-6 regardless of whether the Is-3 is shooting gold or not.
