CabbageMechanic you forgot to put in your list that we don't agree not getting back spare parts when selling a tank. Also, not being allowed to sell back a stage or slot from one tank in order to update another.

Then there is the order of our complaints. NUMBER ONE is Grand Theft on WOT part, not compensation for the removed pieces of equipment being grossly inadequate. Your words make it sound like it was something legal but not adequately handled. I would like you to tell WOT that our feelings on the subject are better expressed with words like confiscate, seize, impound, expropriate, sequestrate or appropriate something that was not theirs to begin with. PLEASE TELL ME THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THIS.

Why do people want to ruin this game's popularity? If this new update is so bad, then why are people still playing the game? Wargaming, Don't listen to the people that post stuff like this on the forums. Post another in-game poll and ask people DIRECTLY and then you will get proper answers. I've asked people how they like the new system and they say that it's fine except for a few minor things. Most of those people are newer to the game and don't know what the forums are. You're believing a bunch of people that think that this game can be 'perfect' when it's just a game, don't play it for a little if you don't want to. And if you are really that upset, then get good at the game and play without using any equipment. I don't put any equipment on any of my tier nine and below tanks now because it's to expensive for me as I have a ton of tanks in my garage, but my win rate and stats are steadily climbing. Why? Because I don't bother with the things I can grind for that barely give me much of an edge in battle, instead, I grind my SKILL level. Big difference, and if people don't like where this game is headed, then they can just delete the game because you guys don't need to fix it unless you want to.

That's not the point. You obviously didn't spend money on this game..or you wouldn't post this garbage.

Thank you very much for listening to us.

I have been issued a full refund from Apple for a couple of recent purchases from before the 3.8 update. I told them I was very disappointed. They were happy to help and very prompt.

Thank you for taking the time and consideration. I have considered looking elsewhere for my entertainment.

Hey Tankers,

CC_Sly and I have been paying attention and wanted to update you on where we are at as a team.  I realize we have not been super vocal the last few days, but we have been collecting the torrent of post-patch negative response to the 3.8 equipment changes (see interpretive dog GIF re-enactment below) and have summarized what we feel are the most important pain points.

We understand that most of you:

  • Feel that the timers represent a cynical cash-grab on Wargaming's part, which is particularly offensive because previously Blitz's lack of such mechanics was a unique selling point.
  • Feel that the compensation for the removed pieces of equipment was grossly inadequate (and some of you have done some particularly elaborate maths to support this).
  • Feel that Spare Parts are gained far too slowly
  • Feel that these changes have disincentivized you from playing many of the vehicles in your garage or adding more vehicles to it (also good supporting maths).
  • Miss binocs and don't like some of the choices the new system forces you to make
  • Feel that the reality of the patch is just as bad as you told us it would be.
  • Have some pretty good t-shirt/3.8 jokes for our Amazon Store.

As always, as long as the forum rules are followed you are welcome to keep the pitchforks out and the torrent of righteous (but hopefully also constructive) fury coming.  We are not going to pretend that everything is fine and ask you to move on - this patch's impact on the community is well appreciated here.  That said, we do have other things to address, so please do not take us posting or discussing other topics as though we are ignoring you on this subject.

There will be another Den on the subject of 3.8 equipment this Friday, and if you feel that you have a significant issue not covered by the list above please post it here for consideration.  Additionally, the release feedback thread in the Update Center is still open.  We will also continue to try and respond to as many PMs and personal inquiries as possible, but please understand that we have many demands on our time and a whole lot of those coming in so your patience is greatly appreciated.

That's it for now. If we have news of change we will share it with you as soon as we are able.

good job cabbage. It's nice to see that you are being candid. Good luck with handling the rage, thanks

Great to see the acknowledgement. Please request that a developer come to forums and prove that they care about the game as much as our community staff do. Hopefully the horrors of 3.8 will boil over and in a few months time we can laugh at the past.

the biggest issue is compensation. Sounds like you're ok with WG giving you a 1:12 return on all the equipment they took from you? I had all equipment on all 210 tanks and after 3.8 I could only max 7 Tier X tanks and no equipment in level 2 or 3 for any other tank. How is that ok with you?

You have a fairly comprehensive list.  I'm in a top 10 clan on NA and most of my clan has nearly stopped playing since the update.  Either angry or waiting for timers on equipment.  We all spend a decent amount of money on the game, from $100s to $1000s, easily.  My question now is, what has this update done to traffic, and spending? Would Wargaming consider it successful? From what I'm seeing it's a disaster, but I don't have the metrics only observation.  If it's a disaster, what's Wargaming planning on doing about it?

I'm starting to be suspicious this update was a test on the smaller Blitz community to experiment with adjustments for future updates with similar goals on WoW and WoT pc, and your platform versions.  The goal being maximising profits and pumping up the micro-transactions

Thank you for acknowledging your view on our concerns on the 3.8 equipment update.  However, I believe there is a point that you and the other community managers are missing.  The premium tanks.  There is now little reason to purchase a premium tank as it now must be ground out to equip.  One of the guilty pleasures of treating yourself to a premium vehicle was that they where ready to go out of the box.  The new system is a disincentive to purchase such a vehicle now as you can only use it to grind credits, it cannot advance a regular tech tree progression, you may as well spend the time grinding out and using the spare parts on the tech tree equivilant ...

I agree with you on that last part that we now have to devote our precious spare parts to equipping the premium tank, but we've always had to grind out equipment for it. They never came with equipment right after purchasing, so that point isn't quite valid. But you're right on the other part; I don't want to buy a premium tank (let's say tier 8) now just to dump 60k+ spare parts into it.

I had similar logic regarding premiums, r4zr.  That's a sticky one there.  Timers on premium equipment purchases seems a bit excessive to me at the very least.

I mean, you buy a tank for gold and it's supposed to be 100% out of the box.  Now I can spend credits and spare parts to add equipment, but still have to spend more gold if I want to play it 100% combat effective within what, a month for tier 8 premiums? Get out

Cabbage & CC, thanks for at least not running away from what is hands down the most traumatic event that has occurred in this game.    Your list is spot on, I would add: why in Gods good name have they also not fixed that Ghost shells? Ghost shells are small potatoes compared to the 3.8 Apocalypse, but could the Devs possibly spare a day or two from designing another damn camo, and fix this bug that has existed since 2.6?

This is game is excellent, I have poured a fair amount of money into it, was glad to do it.  But this debacle of an update went against everything WG advertised in the first place, and despite the outcry of what amounts to a most dedicated focus group that only wants what is best for this platform-period.   WG ignored them (us), and I'm sure it's paying a price for that now.   I know WG has to make money, I'm happy to pay my fair share, but to outright steal stuff I paid for one way or another is , well, -theft.  The tale of the Goose that lays the Golden Egg is unbelievabley appropriate in this circumstance.

I havent played one game, and spent one cent, since the update.  Incentive is just not there.  I earlier posted that walking through your garage looking at your formerly fully equipped tanks as going to the Medical Examiner to identify the body of a relative.  Yes, that is my Tiger 1 on the table Doctor, he was a good tank, enjoying his fully equipped life until hit by that damn Route 3.8 bus.......

I think you guys have been put in a terrible position, literally between a rock and a hard place,  I think you are doing your damned professional best to deal with it. Good luck to you guys, and run with that list up to WG HQ.

Just about ...

- no incentive to buy another premium

- no incentive to buy another tank

- no incentive to buy more premium time

- no incentive to sell a tank (not a single spare part or credit in return for equipment)

- clans are bleeding players

...

- eager to hear how 3.8 fits into other plans for the future

- WG sure proved they did not listen to players  post-video & pre-release of 3.8 ... what does it take for WG to live up to WG's own core values

Regarding the lack of incentive to purchase any kind of new tanks - this was mentioned in the fourth point and we definitely consider it a major issue.

Regarding not getting spare parts for selling a vehicle - this is noted and added to the list

Regarding erovi's last point:  I understand where you are coming from, but I do not believe the legality is in question upon review of the EULA.  Of course, something being legal does not necessarily have bearing on it being fair or good.

Thanks for posting.  Regarding "ghost shells" - there has been a lot of investigation into this issue and in nearly every case it has been tracked to packet loss causing an improper display of in-game events.  If this happened more after a certain patch there may certainly be some software related issues, but in order to find those we really will need as much information as possible from those affected because we have been unable to replicate the issue reliably under any conditions.

If you or anyone else you are aware of have any video of this occurring (big ask I know) or other solid chunks of information, please submit a Customer Support ticket and PM me the number so I can make sure Raizei and I get a chance to look at it and see if we can get a proper bug report filed for another investigation.
