Welp here is another tank rant that is posted by a guy that should not even be playing at that tier...

The KV-1S should not even be concidered a heavy tank! It is a med that is a little bit slow! I can't bounce  anything and I just want the IS-7 (or what ever the KV-1S heavy line tier X is) I keep getting set on fire from Cromwell B to KV-2 with the other gun that is not the derp gun! (Who would do that and it was not the stock gun) Before 3.8 I could just get a wet fuel tank! but then WG just had to say "Oh let's steal all of the people's hard earned quiptment because we are dumb!" But now! I am sick and tired of just getting killed by fire! HELP!

I love my Tiger P :playing:

I've been running the kv-1s lately. Side scraping works very well. Treat it like an m103. Fast, good pen, and don't expect to bounce without angles/sidescraping

EDIT I have the IS7, if you want a tank with armor. It's worth the grind. Oh so worth it.

Every American in the game. Bar none. Quite proud of that.

Bullets have a name on them, grenades are addressed “to whom it may concern”, but artillery only comes in “reply all”.

Play t150 its better armorl... Otherwise dont rush in. Kv1s armor not the best. 122 gun slow af reload. Stick with group and take cover while reloading

First, although the Armour is lacking to say the least, sidescraping does produce bounces and such.

Second, free xp the turret than the guns to have a strong turret.

Finally, do not quit at this line. You get one of the most powerful guns at tier 6.

A 122 mm boom cannon blessed by Stalin himself with 175 pen with ap and a 390 aplha. That is very powerful indeed.

To play it, do not charge in, use that speed to get to the places you need to be.

Once you have fired the gun, get into cover asap. Preferably a building as such. Peekaboom them to death

Thats how I got my first kalobanovs medal and an ace tanker in this beast of a machine.

So good tanking and may Stalin bless you with 390 aplha bombs. :)

122mm gun makes it little scary tank. I think this is the reason why it is in a heavy tank type.

Many tanks are like this. Stock loadout and they suck, the upgrades don't appear like much, but in end make a huge difference. Get the top gun and it is a whole new tank. :playing:

That explains a lot of your strife...a KV-1S without the 122 feels more like a poorly up-armored T-34-85. Personally, the Russian Heavy lines are the definition of why Free XP and Golding crews makes sense...the tanks play quite differently when max'd out vs. untrained/under-equipped. At least get the 85mm gun before grinding the 122, otherwise it will be even more underpowered.

The D-2-5T gun carries on to the IS, a slightly bouncier hull that plays more/less the same as the -1S. These aren't front-line brawlers until red has been whittled down: they are mobile platforms for guns that will make you cry if you are remotely impatient, and grin like an idiot when they connect...peek-a-boom, relocate while reloading, repeat.

Regarding your signature- there isn't a tank in Blitz that will bounce every shot...the Tortoise and Doom Turtle (T95) are probably the closest, and they can be beaten as well. I'd suggest that you find the line that fits your playstyle the best, or adapt to what the line needs...if you feel like you shouldn't be in Tier VI, then back down and go a different direction for a bit.

If you aren't willing to spend a few thousand free exp to max the -1s, then be ready for pain. I free xp'ed the -1s to max, and I have by best stats in it. It's a great tank, IMO, one of the most OP heavies tier-for-tier, so if a 46% scrub like me can do well in it, then u can 2

I don't rely on armor.  I assume if I get hit I take damage.  So I don't care what WG 'classifies' a tank... I play from cover and try not to get shot.

Is taking a shot to the turret of a T29, T32, T34, T30, IS-7, or the front of AT-2 or T95 going to do a lot of damage?

If the player knows what they are doing... yes.  Every hull down tank you listed has a turret weakness.  As does the front of the AT-2 and T95.   So... I stand by my post.  I wouldn't sit with my turret showing in any of those tanks (unless I had to) during a reload.

Maybe, but you will not take damage every time you get shot in one of those tanks though

You're right.  Call the KV-1S a medium.  While you're at it, the IS needs to be called a medium.  Will that change a player's approach to the tank?  Just because of the classification?

By all means, everyone should keep their truly heavy turrets showing on reload and count the percentage of time you're penned.

I strongly recommend you don't, though.

Ok. Sounds like you’re not playing it correctly, again. The KV-1S is also pretty much considered a Tier 6 god. All you need to do is fire, retreat to cover, wait 20 seconds, and fire again. I used to have this problem where I would play way to aggressively, die in two seconds, and go like “this tank is [edited]!” WoT is a game all about patience. If you don’t have the patience to wait for a 20 sec reload and not bumrush enemy tanks, hell, the KV-1S is hella not the tank for you!

What I liked about it from the first day is that it was quick without tracks and engine upgraded.

This tank taught patience and kept me from coming out of cover until I was aimed and ready to shoot.

As far as 20 second reload, just think that you have that long to decide what your next target is

and how you can safely meander over and derp his azz.

Like any other tank, you must play to its strengths and overcome its weaknesses.
