This is something that has been asked hundreds of times. It is definitely an old thing to see. However, I must ask it again, as I am on the verge of my first tier 10, either the T-62A or Object 140.

A long time ago, before the high tier mediums were nerfed, the Object 140 was widely considered to be better. Now, with the double nerfs to HEAT in two updates, some people are saying the T-62A is better. I have the credits to buy only one of these.

So- the age old question- which one is better? Please list reasons if possible so I can make my decision.

Definitely the 62. The 140 was better because it had better handling, better turret, and a better Hull, but  now the 62 has the edge in turrets, and that's what mattered most. I'd much rather be in a leo than a 140, and that's the niche I feel like the 140 is in now.

140 never had a better turret, better gun depression

You shouldn't get either as your first Tier X. The pen nerfs and armor nerfs are excruciatingly punishing and it takes an exceptionally skilled player to work around them.

I would agree.  Patton is so much easier to use and I think a better tank anyway, but I would have said T-62A before the changes and now of course.  I have always liked the way it drove somehow, and it is better at aim time which makes all the difference in the world!

Bad (62a) vs worse (140) hmmm... go up a heavy or td line. Drop down to the T44 (which should still be a good tank) and focus on a tier 10 that's doable under the current meta.

I'd rather roll with the 140s turret back in the day.

The problem with the 140's old turret was the lack of a mantlet. You could use the PC auto-aim and lock on to the unarmoref center, load HEAT, and insta-pen the 140

The Obj. is better and here's why. If you take the T-54 using the D-54 gun and use sniper mode on both vehilces from the front. You'll immediately notice the massive turret weakpoints on the cheeks of the T-62/A, to either side of the gun mantlet. The same is true for its upper glacias. While armor readouts claim it's 2mm thicker, this extra thickness is useless as the sloping on the T-62/A is the same as the T-54 but with less armor.

However, if you look at the Obj., the entire front is a "generic red tomato". It's impossible to penned from the front despite having slightly less armor. Its turret is also smaller, and shorter, making shooting at it exceptionally hard at range. It also has better sloping at the front, and while the gun handling is slightly worse than the T-62/A, all of the other factors such as armor and mobility make up for it.

On a side note, the Obj. has thicker turret armor (still the best in game to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong) and its armor is 65mm at the rear, preventing pesky HE shells from going through your bum on ocassion, as compared to the T-62/A's 45mm rear armor.

I still like 140 better for the little extra gun depression. It somehow also feels smoother.

I messed up and put my sprockets on the 140 instead of the T-62A, which I always liked better.  Oh well.  They handle differently - that's the biggest change I notice, in how they drive.  If you liked the way T-54 drove, you will like 140 too (and it's faster).  If you didn't but you like other tanks in the game for their steering, then T-62A.  But now I can only play one so 140 it is [[:

wow the 140 is seriously not nearly as good as the T-62A and I don't think it ever was.  I never really played this tank for any big amount of time.  I got the T-62A first and got the 140 for completion's sake and only really took it out every now and then for the lulz.  Now not having a T-62A that's ready to go, I can articulate as to why I somehow felt better in the 62.

The speed difference is negligible.  Seriously I don't notice it at all, but that's not a big deal.

Frontal armor is better.  140 is better in the situation where you must scrape sides and, with practice, it actually is able to corner better than any medium.

Turret armor I never really saw as an issue and still don't.  Both had pennable hatches before in a close up situation, and both could be penned by the right gun.  They're a little more balanced now so this is not that big of a deal.

It's the gun and the turret speed that make this way worse though.  What's the point in being able to go faster if you can't fire at multiple targets or change aiming direction?  It is the most noticeable downside to the 140.  That and I do notice I miss more often than I would in a 62, which I think is because of the aim time.
