I myself am fatherless. He left when I was a month old. Many youth face this problem. But remember your not alone. I'm 19 and the way I grew up I should of been dead or in jail but if I made it this far I'll be okay and you will be to. And I ask u if u Dont have a father promise yourself to be a father to your kids. I'm a momas boy I won't lie but my mom went through hell to raise me to be a good man and I thank her for it. Happy father's day to all the moms that had the balls to be a father to the best they can.

Good point Erwin. My dad passed when I was 9, so was raised by a tough mom that had to do both jobs. Glad you had a tough one too.

I too had no child. All the guys my mother picked up were less than men. They were mean, childish and abusive in every way possible. I have had a hard time learning to be a good father because I am going without the manual, IOW not having a good fatherly role model growing up.

So with that knowledge, I have thanked many mother-fathers today for what they do and told them "Happy Father's Day!"

My situation was a bit different. My mom left when I was about 12, and my dad had to be both mom and dad the best he could. I'm 37 y/o now and I'm the father of 5 children, ranging in age from 3 to 16. I just lost my dad in April, but I am so grateful to have had him for 37 years. I hope I can come close to being as good of a man and dad as he was.

To those of you like Erwin who didn't have the benefit of a good dad, just make up your mind to be the best possible dad to your kids, and remember that just being there and present means a lot.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there and to the moms who had to be both.

Good post!

My parents divorced in the 70s and my father who lived only 15 minutes away, never called or even wanted to get a burger or anything.

I understand the feeling fully.
