I saw a few posts today regarding just how underwhelming the Jgpz E100 when compared to just about every other tank it'll meet. (Thanks to DMG, among others. I can't seem to find the original thread :P) I felt like more attention must be brought to the original German tier 10 TD.

It's armour is surprisingly ineffective when angled and it certainly does not negate the disadvantages it causes to speed and mobility. What's more, the gun seems to be a consistent victim of RNG, constantly giving extremely low roles and implausible non penetrations.

The terrible mobility however, seems to be the major downfall of the TD. It can't get into position before being flanked or left behind all together. The traverse would probably fail to compete with a circling Maus!

Anyway, that's enough from me. I'm interested to know what your thoughts are on the TD and the buffs that could possibly be implemented.

Cheers.

All the points you have made are true for the tank. It used to be a great tank. After they nerfed the armour it became garbage as it was easily penetrated from the front. I could never understand nerfing a tank armour and not adjusting its speed. Less armour=less weight= faster tank. I sold it months ago instead of praying to the gods of buff and nerf. Good luck with it.

Yes! Again!  Absolutely!

This tank needs a buff so freaking bad.  The mobility is atrocious and the gun suffers too much from RNG.  Way too many low rolls imo.  They need to buff this turretless TD to compete with the 183.  183 is better in every way for a TD..... better mobility, higher alpha, a turret.... the list goes on.

Too much effort to grind a tank I'm not very interested in. I already wasted my time and effort on the Jag and I'd like to get some sort of enjoyment out of it.

do you have the 183? zero armor, _the_trollish_gun in the game (pen AND accuracy), zero camo value even when sitting still, abysmal reload even when fully boosted... the 183 is probably the most situational tank in the game- bar none. with the jp100 you can hold, push or camp. with the 183 all you can do is camp and towards the end maybe clean up a bit if you didnt get he to death before that and are hanging by a thread.

But it does basically obliterate whatever it hits. So....

not necessary. rng ranges widely - most ap rounds do about 850-900... those 1200+ oneshots we all have seen are actually not that common. he doesnt pen most of the time and hesh doesnt have that much pen either. and it is all pure luck - there is no aiming for weak spots with that thing. even when fully dialed the gun is very inaccurate- especially at distance.

with that tank it seems the rng has made up its mind before the battle starts- from there on you are either a nail gun making impossible shots or half of your rounds land somewhere around the target

While you're at it, buff the E5 too. The maneuverability is sluggish and nothing special anymore. It needs to be able to move more quirkily so that it can make up for the copula that is all too frequently nuked. Also look into the alpha stats. I've talked with a few other people, and all agree it seems to roll far below 400 very often.

Spending 200k spare parts on it helps; with full upgrades it has the gun handling of an unequiped E5 and armor that laughs at anything that is not a TD (and the 263 and similar low pen TDs still have problems) also you eat E100s for breakfast and are one of the only things an IS-7 has to fear.

Dumped the 183 after the armor nerf. If I wanted a grill I'd buy one.

I have not bought the tier X yet but I would say the whole line was really good.  Excellent pen, accuracy and dpm with most featuring good mobility.  The line was a really pleasant surprise.

E5 is in a sad state currently.  Why would someone drive the E5 if they have the Patton?  The American heavy has a poorer turret but gets 8 more pen and 50 more alpha.  Yippee!  Not enough mobility to flank and not enough armor to brawl.

I personally find the JPZ inflexible and outdated, yet still powerful. No matter how insanely clunky the platform may be, the combination of extremely good general armor, high health for a TD, and a good gun make the Jagdpanzer a force to be reckoned with. The frontal armor is decent by itself, but unlike most TDs the jag panzer also has extremely thick side/rear armor, enabling angling and side scraping along with troll-bounces. This merely amplifies the high health for a TX TD, up to 250 HP more than its competitors, meaning that the Jagdpanzer can take it nearly as well as some of the true turtles such as the Maus. The gun is constantly an object of complaints, but I see nothing that makes it any less reliable than expected -- its slightly clunkier than the 150mms, but actually has the armor to be able to aim in, and the 183 has FAR worse gun handling, worse reload, no armor to cover your aimtime,  and no high-pen premium round for blasting cheeky noobs.

JPE's biggest issue is the gun.

It suffers from a drunk Russian gunner a lot of the time.

Armor is good - well angled and hull down it's pretty much impervious to anything.

Mobility is not good, but enough to get into a decent shooting spot.

The same guy who installed my 183's barrel must have also done my JPE, as they make the 268 look like a sniper rifle in comparison.
