long long ago when I learned to play billiards (no pockets, really long table) I would play people for a dollar a game who where really good at the game. I was guaranteed to lose a dollar every game I played. Eventually by playing someone better than me and observing everything, where the que tip touched the ball and how hard the ball was hit and how the ball reacted (I even paid attention to the breathing) I didn't loose a dollar. Its all in perception.
