Neighborhood Watch and How it Applies to WoTB

Many neighborhoods employ their own versions of the National Neighborhood Watch program. The primary role of participants is to aid local police agencies by observing and reporting actual or potential crimes. In turn, law enforcement responds to any disturbances, thereby effectively keeping the neighborhoods safe. As a former law enforcement officer, I can tell you these programs do indeed work.

The WoTB forums are like a neighborhood. They consist of a group of likeminded people who “live” in close proximity to one another. While virtual, these forums are also a community, and many have found them to be a great place to kick up their feet and relax.

Trolls Are Like Criminals

Like a neighborhood, the WoTB forums have their own version of criminals: trolls. We can benefit from an initiative that observes and reports potential breeches of the EULA. Through our efforts, mods can be made aware of these issues and address them as they see fit.

The recent Android launch brings with it an influx of new players, many of whom will prove themselves to be positive members of our community. A small portion of the new players, however, will be trolls that need to be dealt with swiftly and harshly.

Implementation

I propose creating the WoTB Forum Watch, which will operate similarly to the Neighborhood Watch program. Those who volunteer will be responsible for observing and reporting actual or potential trollish activity.

Once a member has identified a suspected troll, all members will vote via PM to determine if the troll needs to be reported to the mods. If a majority vote is reached, all members will neg rep and/or report the troll.

These actions in and of themselves will act as a deterrent, and will help to expediently solve trolling issues. The WoTB Forum Watch initiative will help minimize troll activity until an official WG program is implemented.

To become a member of the The WoTB Forum Watch, leave a comment expressing your interest. All members will be listed below.

My best,

Thunder

Post Script: Please refrain from posting potential trolls on this thread. Instead, PM me the details and we will privately put the issue to a vote.
