...because they already had the model roughed in for another map and saved rubles on coding?
still, the yamato was a japanese class of super battleships (largest warships to ever be built and both ships were sunk) and the map is based around france.... So i have no clue why they would put a japanese super battleship in a french themed map, and japan never even made it to europe like planned, due to the soviets and the US stopping them in their tracks in manchuria and the south pacific.... So ya me and a few friends of mine r soooo confused on this and we sat and thought for ever why they would put a yamato class there.....

Probably the same reason there are American Jeeps in the Japanese harbor and double-barreled Victorian-themed OP-sleds and outright anime and mechatrash schmaltz abounding. Is video game. Is OK.

I know.... But they should try to keep the objects that belong to the map theme on it and not mix the objects in maos that rnt meant for them
All in all it doesnt matter and its fine

Noteworthy observations - (although I'm still concerned you are so reluctantly theistic after all this time). Alas... I digress.
I ran around the thing 3 times in a training room to get a feel (all right I admit it: I did look for easter eggs but found none. Even shooting the funny signs nothing I saw happened and I couldn't shoot the one ship as there was an invisible force field around it)
Anyway: I agree... it's an odd feeling map. Did get one game on it and we won.

Haven't played yet.
normandy was the most asked map settings in the EU forums for ... about three years maybe, together with Ardennes. Ardennes being dense forest I guess we won't have it but finally we have Normandy.... supposedly.
personally I don't see anything in the map reminding me of Normandy, more something of nuclear dimensions. Which is fine too, to some extent.
I enjoyed the very tiny maps with a lot of verticality, in the early days of blitz.
- Verticality was gone and missed for the longest times, at least the Mayan horror has some, and now naval frontier has a lot of it too. That's good.
- Now about tiny map, I'm not too sure this was needed from the old days, with so many speedy tanks of the current meta, this map might soon look like a Mario kart circuit. Especially higher tier battles will be tiring.
last thing about vegetation, on shores in Normandy there aren't trees, especially not tall trees. It's more lands type of landscape.
also I think vegetation is one of the major limiting factor for slow devices. Removing vegetation makes sure resources are used also where. But since the map doesn't look so complex, where all that processing power is used ? Final thing, bush means campbush. devs have talked many times about bush shaving tactics to prevent team members being inactive.
I expect* a redesign soon...
*wish
