Ok, so I used to really love this tank, but with the new equipment and the IS heavy spam at Tier 8 this tank needs help. The penetration is too low to be competitive. I was facing an E75 and couldn’t penetrate its lower plate with APCR. That is ridiculous. Have a hard time penetrating most Russian heavies. Spend too much time aiming for weak spots, so I take unnecessary damage.

I can’t settle on calibrated shells or gun rammer. Rammer up DPM, but pen is too low. Use calibrated shells, and the DPM becomes abysmal.

WG needs to either increase the penetration or give it the Tier 9 gun that is on the Tiger II.

It's a tank nobody really plays, so maybe there isn't enough of a sample size.

It is always Hammer Time!

Probably not played, because it isn’t competitive. It’s a tier 8 heavy and it is more like a medium.

I wish it was more in line with a progression from the tiger P.  I would trade some speed for better armor.

Agreed. It is so hit or miss on how to angle to bounce shots.

That tank doesn't need a buff its fine as is. Like every tank just wiggle a little and enjoy how every shot misses or bounces.

WG has used that very reason to buff tanks in the past. This tank needs some love.

I never said anything about its inability to bounce shots from red tanks. I can do this and can effectively side scrape it too. The problem is the penetration of the Vk 45.02A's top gun. It is too low for a heavy.

It was a very frustrating tank to play.  You’ve got the maneuverability to position yourself properly, but as the OP says you really can’t do squat once you do.  Trying to take out any IS-X series tank that is closing on you is nearly impossible. And the bow plate is neither thick enough nor angled enough to use the tank as anything but a side scraper against their 122mm guns.  Even then the risk of over angling is very, very high.  On any of the desert maps you’re a very exposed and unhappy tank because of your height and low RoF.

But lordy is it worth it once you get to the B. :playing:  You become a god of bounce and the top gun makes you a threat to most everything.

Agreed. The B is better, because WG buffed the frontal armor. It is also a beast at side scraping.

The B's armor is good except for the hatch. God. That hatch gets penned by everything. It is much weaker than the E75's hatch. Very frustrating.

Yeah, you would think for how tall it is that it would get like 8 or 9 degrees of gun depression. The Tiger II has 7, which is one more than that of the Vk 45.02A.

Particularly since the turret is so far forward on the hull.  That and the height of the turret imply solid gun depression.  Of course the breach could be 6 feet long or something, so...

I have noticed that WG doesn't really consider the mechanics of things inside the tank. For example, the Jagdtiger 8.8 cm, mounting the 8.8 cm, has less gun depression than the Tier IX Jagdtiger mounting a 12.8 cm. How is that even possible?

Based on your other post, I am assuming the other three aren't IS#. :teethhappy:
