This is a somewhat comprehensive guide of the tier X Soviet medium tank, the Object 140. Even though this tank has been powercreeped recently (still waiting for that buff WG) it is still a very reliable and good tank when you play your cards right. And do realize this is a typical guide from a average 50~%er (I have so many battles and so little time, stat padding takes a lot of time so do take this with a grain of salt if your a unicum.
Grind : N/A since it’s a tier X but it will take time to get used to from the T-54.
Mobility : Like most Russian tanks it has great mobility though it has a worse hp/ton ratio than the T-54 so it accelerates slower. It doesn’t mean it’s a slouch though, still very mobile and has 5 km/h more than it’s main rival, the T-62A.
Armour : Not as great and troll as the T-54 but it’s the lesser of the two tier X’s when it comes to armour problems. The front hull as an effective armour thickness of 100mm at a very good slope. It isn’t strong on its own but with angling and wiggling you will get some nice bounces. Side is 80mm but it’s angled, though you shouldn’t rely on it just like the rest of the tank. Rear is obviously weak for a medium at 65mm, though better than the T-62A. Turret like most soviet tanks is strong, though it has fairly annoying weak spots such as the two cupolas and the very top of the roof. I brawled with some Object 140s in my own and I could pen the cupolas with no problem. The turret in general is strong but it is no T-62A.
Gun : Worst pen of any medium gun, great rof and dpm, and fairly accurate. With rammer and 100% crew you can get it to 5.5 seconds or 10.94 rpm, without rations. Standard rounds are APCR, 240 mm pen. HEAT is 290, HE is 50. 310 alpha on standard, 260 on HEAT, 420 on HE. Accuracy is 0.336. Aim time with Vstabs and laying drive is 2.7 without rations. It’s a good gun, not on par with the T-62A but it does not joke around. One thing worth mentioning is firing on the move. When you get it fully equipped and 100% crew it is absolutely stellar for on the move shooting. There’s so little bloom and it is really easy especially if playing on pc to turn on auto aim and start spamming shells. I think I saw a video saying that the 140 has one of the best on the move shooting blooms in the game. Keep your enemies tracked and the gun will perform well.
Equipment : I run Rammer, Protected modules, optics, laying drive, enhanced armour, engine accelerator, and Vstabs.
Provisions and Consumables : Run the usual, nothing special needed. I like using Adrenaline sometimes because the rof is insane, more like a machine gun than a 100mm.
Playstyle : It’s a great tank. Mobility is great, decent enough armour profile, and balanced gun makes it a great medium with no frills. Gun depression sucks but it is way better than the T-62A, 6 degrees vs 5 degrees. At first glance, you might be thinking, what is the difference? It’s only 1 degree more. But if you know basic math, it’s a whopping 20% more gun depression than the T-62A. And with the maps on blitz and the fast paced playstyle, that’s a huge difference. Turret is weaker but you cant have everything, can get bounces but it is not super strong like the T-62A. To use this tank, you must know how to react to the changing battle quickly, because it isn’t as forgiving (though still fairly good) as the T-54. You lose the troll front glacis plate and acceleration. You need to get used to that though. At least it isn’t a T-62A since it is even worse on that account and the hull is a joke on it. The front is notorious for setting the vehicle on fire when hit because the fuel tanks are located right next to the driver. Bring a fire extinguisher or have good crew. 4.3 balanced the modules in the 140 so it doesn’t get near as much critical hits as before, and this was needed since it used to get damaged modules a lot. Hull down is great in this tank, though keep moving back and forth since your turret isn’t near as strong. DPM is great, keep pumping shells into the enemy and before you know it you will get 3K dmg. It’s a great medium tank with stark differences to then 62A, and it is very fun. Though with the recent updates it hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves.
*Please noteI have nothing against the T-62A, I am trying my best to highlight the differences. The 62A is a sniper while the 140 is a true medium.
