I'm more a lover of fighter aircraft than I am of tanks ( hence 'Warbird' ) The pic of Felix the cat carrying a bomb is a squadron insignia originally used in the Navy by VF-3 squadron during WWII. It's just one of my favorite insignias because it's simple...and Felix is cool.

I went through the history a bit to see if we have a "what's the story behind your profile pic" thread and didn't see one.

So with that in mind... What's the story behind your profile pic? Why'd you pick it?

I change my profile pic periodically and often rotate through a few main choices. Lately until 2 days ago my profile pic was me holding up a roadsign that says "NORTH" - It was taken when I was on a festival long-crew. I like that one. Most folks here are Americans so I'm north of you. I'm in the Southern part of Ontario but my family all comes from up north where I feel a lot more at home amongst the rugged granite features and mixed woodlands... And that festival was one of my favourite yearly expeditions. (Don't go on those adventures so much in my old age lol)

My profile pics are usually of me actually. Probably my other most used ones are one of my most loyal cat Aurynn with his arms outstretched towards the camera and one of me wearing a blacklight-painted plaster mask that my friend made. That one was taken at an excellent Psy-trance party (ie a rave) in Peterborough (a former home of mine) where I did an art installation and had a crazy awesome time and then went to the afterparty where I started by accidentally drinking about 2000 micrograms of LSD that was mixed into some fruit juice and then making out with what looked like a cloud of swirling eyes and tongues but turns out was a beautiful woman. Sometimes I switch it to a pic of me giving a friend a "bucket ride" on a small tractor that had a dozer blade attached... Also taken at the same annual festival as the one where I'm holding the NORTH sign (although almost certainly a different year)

Current profile pic is me at Ball's Falls Conservation area. Went there a couple weeks ago with GF and her mom.

I don't think there is any profound, clever, witty, or otherwise meaningful significance to my avatar image.  I just reached in my pockets to come up with something to use.

Well... I like Spock the delivery of dry honest logic without concern of offending others is appealing to me.  There have been two different Spock pics I've used.  1. Spock petting a cat.  I also like cats.  2. Spock doing the live long and prosper sign with a naked lady drawn on his hand.  I'm sorry but that is just hilarious to me.

I'm sure Spock will be coming back at some point

Yogi Bear.  Yogi started as a nickname that started in high school back in the late 80's.  It stuck and I use it, or some iteration, for all online games.

I also love the old Yogi Bear cartoons.  My last name is also Smith...Ranger Smith...It was written.

Truth^^^

As I posted in the avatar contest thread....

Mine is a quote from Lewis B. Chesty Puller, USMC, during the Korean War. The Marines were cut off behind enemy lines and the Army had written the 1st Marine Division off as being lost because they were surrounded by 22 enemy divisions. The Marines made it out inflicting the highest casualty ratio on an enemy in history and destroying 7 entire enemy divisions in the process. An enemy division is 16500+ men while a Marine division is 12500 men.

It compliments my signature banner motto "Nuts!", the reply of Gen. McAuliffe to the German commander's demand for the 101st Airborne to surrender when surrounded at Bastogne.

It reflects an attitude of not giving up no matter how impossible the situation seems.

I wanted something simple and non complex ( otherwords I was tired of having a lack of profile pic, and just wanted something that atleast occupied to empty space. )

And people have already used the 'Gold M', felt like I would be copying others.

I've always enjoyed the surrealist humour of Ben Edlund.  Patrick Warburton's take on the character was spot on, and you'll see me yolo'ing into battle yelling...

I change my profile pic fairly often as well. It took me a while to figure out how to place an image into the profile pic format when I started, so since then I've been collecting images in my spare time and archiving them in my iPad photos.

I've saved some pretty cool resizing, cropping and photo imaging apps over time and like to see how I can enhance them with editing formats to make colors pop a bit more and easier to fit the forum pic format.

I usually like to capture military, warrior, animalistic and Native American artwork and similar culturally related images. I have some other images I've captured and downloaded that I'll probably use at some point, as well. (Thanks google!)

Sometimes I'll include art images I've borrowed from some prominent Native artists, such as the one here. This artist is fairly diverse and eclectic with works that merge the traditional and contemporary elements from within his life experience, that includes clay working, graphics, painting, photography, computer imaging and fashion.

He has delved into photographing live artists dressed in a futuristic (apocalyptic?) warrior attire for a series he was/is(?) developing. He does some pretty amazing stuff and is a very creative individual as so many of our Native artists are.

The images I include in my profile pic are usually either Blitz gaming and tanking related or of a personal and culturally affiliated subject matter.

peace
