It's hopefully going to be a Gun Depression buff for the SU-101. (
WZ-120 looks up from its dark, rainy cave with tears.)
Actual SU-101 was capable of 2 degrees of gun depression.
SU-102 (SU-101 modified for 122) was capable of 0.26*
What was so special about these tanks then?
They had excellent balance in the suspension, armor, speed, firepower, reliability, anti armor performance, profile, etc.
While the RL shell physics that caused the SU-101 to have heavy tank armor at 36 tons won't be around, my balance post provides my opinion on how to make it less terrible.
When I say heavy tank armor, I mean the tank could stop very powerful guns. When I say excellent balance, I mean that unlike many other tanks of it's class, the vehicle had a properly balanced center of mass. Speed? Straight from the T-44. Reliability? Probably not on par with the WW2 era T-34's sold to the Africans that are still in operation, but possibly still similar. Anti armor? Historical gun performance would be great thanks.
And while I'm here I'd like to point out the SU-101 and 122-54 were competing designs on different platforms. The SU-101 lost because the hull it was based on was out of date.
