So.  The T69.  Looks great.  Kind of meh performance.  Is this a tank that gets much better with equipment?  Because it seems on paper to be pretty solid.  Maybe not truly Tier VIII solid, but still decent.  And I’ve quite honestly fallen in love with the look of the American autoloaders.

I’m already running Calibrated Shells over Vents. And now I’m wondering if overall performance will improve further when I start adding 2nd row equipment.  I know Engine Accelerator will help with hills. And Enhanced Armor never hurts.  But is it worthwhile to take it all the way to Vertical Stabilizer land?

For those already questioning my sanity at considering equipping a tank with such an unenviable reputation, please understand that this is a long term project.  I’ve quite a few tanks that will be seeing my sparse parts long before this one.  I’m just wondering if Equipment is effective enough on this tank to move it ahead of some of my other “project” tanks.

Thanks!

*Dan’s Project Tanks:  Love the look and feel but can’t get even semi-consistent performance.*

T69 is decent, it can hold its own

I don't know how I'm doing well considering pen.

If you like the tank, spend it as much as you want.

Only exeption would be nerfable OP tanks.

I played TDs before it was cool. It was also never cool to begin with.

I like it better than the next tank in the line for sure, it’s not a bad tank.

Good riddance. If you are short on garage space, I would replace with something you like more.

I am now the #1 ranked E75 on the NA server!

Garage space is not an issue.  They’d have to add an entirely new national tech tree before that is a problem. ;)

All I’m concerned with is a bit of strategic planning. It’s not in my file of “go to” tanks.  But I wonder if with the right equipment it might someday be, because I really like the look.

The more I play this tank the more I wonder how you are able to afford playing this tank!  The AP rounds can’t pen most same Tier targets from the front and are right out when you are bottom Tier.  So you try to flank. But you aren’t quite quick enough if Red has Russian Mediums and/or French Lights. That leaves you reaching for the HEAT rounds. A lot.  And while they’re higher velocity than the AP (?!?!?) they lack the punch when combined with the clip reload speed to give you a chance against another Medium.

It’s an almost tank.  Almost fast enough.  At least compared to Heavies.  Almost pens.  If you only shoot at Mediums and Lights.  Almost armored.  But with the most glaringly obvious weak spots.

I’m really starting to think this tank may be more trouble than it’s worth.  So, time to move it to the back of the garage and toss a tarp over it.

I’m already in the T57 Heavy.  I was just trying to make the T69 work after skipping it the first time around. Without spamming HEAT I just can’t get the damned thing to do any work. Every other Tier VIII Medium is a better tank.

I think it's good, however mine is cursed in MM.  I rarely get a winning team in it no matter how hard I try to carry and am usually targeted by 2-3 enemy lights and mediums ASAP.  It's like playing the T71 which is pretty awesome most matches, however the tier matching for the T69 seems to crush it's soul.

Got this tank recently and don’t enjoy drive this at all. It’s neither a medium, nor can it go against heavies. Compared to 100, it lack the gun metrics (pen, Alpha, clip potential) to make a difference. The only thing it seems to be doing well is sniping against weakly armored targets (meds and in particular the T49, since the side armor is thick enough to prevent HE pen). Going against heavies, the lack of pen and Alpha seems to be a huge problem and Meds can gun you down with their better DPM. So it seems to be resigned to a support role and we all Know how well that works.

How are folks driving this machine and get semi decent results?

I did not like this tank. The pen seemed inadequate, it wasn't particularly fast for a medium, and the clip reload was awfully long for such small clip potential. It had somewhat trollish armor but i wouldn't call it reliable protection. There are worse things in life like bankruptcy or addiction, but this thing ranked as something unpleasant about blitz until the rest of 2017 came in. I had hopes that the t54e1 would be marginally better but those hopes were quickly shot down.

Whole line seemed...incomplete, for a lack of better term. The tanks were there, they were existent, but they were missing that extra step of balancing and the final touches. Keep in mind that my experiences are all from pre-buff for that line. Maybe things changed, maybe not.

I have to disagree about the T54E1. It’s the only one I found any success in. The T69 can’t.  And for me, the T57 Heavy won’t.

The T69 needs a pen boost and more armor on the cheeks of the turret base. The poor acceleration can be coped with. But if your gun can’t pen the bad guys when they can punch holes in you at will...

The T57 is just unforgivably slow. It doesn’t have the stupendous armor of the Germans even though it has their painful lack of speed.  And the gun is just good enough that you really want to clip out on a target but just end up overwhelmed because you can’t get out of your own way.  It’s a tank I’m just not good enough to use yet. :arta:

The T69 got a very small buff in gunhandling and interclip reload, but not really enough to make a difference. I think it is purely a support sniper. I can’t really hold strategic positions like the center hill in Canyon either unless the reds can’t count until three, because you will get rolled on the 18sec reload.

The gun needs to be buffed in both pen (give it at least APCR as premium instead of the useless HEAT) and clip reload speed to be competitive.

Its really a Tier 7 tank with a Tier 8 hitpoint pool right now.

Finally gave up on mine and sold it.  Took out the T49 and have not looked back.  The pure salt dumped on me during/after matches using a T49 vs T69 is testament alone.  Follow everyone elses advice and don't bother with it nowdays.

I’m not going to sell it, yet, but I’ve pretty much accepted that it’s the worst Tier VIII Medium in the game.

Its been mothballed and covered with a tarp till WG gives it a serious buffing.
