I was lucky enough to receive a Chieftain/T95 (which for simplicity I'll call it the CT95), from the winter fair supergame. I have played approximately 30 battles in it and am downright disappointed. I am barely maintaining a 40% winrate in it, which contradicts my 61% overall winrate.

The CT95 has a turret that features over 250mm of frontal armor, and a well sloped 80mm upper front plate. It can move at approximately 40kph, and has a 90mm gun that fires in 6.6 sec stock.

On the downside, it has a large, unprotected miniturret on the roof, a paper thin back hull, and a side armor profile that makes it unable to angle or sidescrape effectively. With the weak miniturret, I am left with a vehicle that seems to be unable to effectively hulldown or sidescrape.

Ignoring the fact that it is labeled as a heavy tank, it seems to play very similar to the Centurion 1. They share the same top speed, have similar DPM, Pen, gun depression, and Accuracy. I would favor the Cent's turret, as the CT95's turret weak spot is large and easy to hit, while the extreme front armor slope is superior to the Cent's front plate, on paper.

I am by no means the best Centurion player, but, early in the grind I had maintained roughly a 55%w/r, currently at 52%. I know the Centurion is best played in second line support, utilizing the accuracy and ROF. I use the strong turret to my advantage hull down. I do not enjoy playing the Cent due to the lack of protection or mobility, and it usually gathers dust.

I extended what I know about the Centurion to attempt to play the CT95 early on.

Upon realizing that I am unable to play the new CT95 effectively, I switched back to the Cent 1 to determine if it's the MM, or my play.

Although I did lose a majority of the recent battles, I exceeded the vehicle's old average damage most battles, which I believe is a result of MM being unfavorable to tanks that follow the Cent's form. Playing the Ceanervon?, Panther II, and stock STB-1 seemed to confirm my thoughts.

Which does not appear well for my new toy. I have an early average damage that's greater than some of my tier 8 tanks with higher winrates, but I also feel like it's unable to deal damage as effectively as the Cent 1, which results in me being unable to carry.

It gets focus fired like no other tank I have yet played, and I have noticed a "smarter" playerbase, with many reds playing behind cover and aiming effectively. Greens remain morons.

The results of these battles tended to be far from close, a majority of them being 7-1 or 7-2 games, so even if I had been more effective, the loss was guaranteed.

I had originally believed it would fit my heavium play style and would become a favorite immediately. I still have hopes for this, but I am now aware it will never maintain a 50% w/r, which is, for good reason, my benchmark for playing tanks for fun.

With the first 30 battles being so miserable, I would assume that once the "honeymoon period" wares off, it would be downright unplayable.

I am looking for tips, pointers, or even some assistance to carry me to a 50% w/r so I can put it in the attic until something changes.

The jealously/rage focus still happens a year after the M60 issue last year.

So long as hard-to-get, grind event and weeaboo trash tanks find their way into pub games before the Mountain Dew addled kids get one the rage focus will be persistant.

Add your clan tag to that and its sometimes game suicide.  Ive been tunneled so hard by reds that we won because they all refused to shoot at anyone but me. The other, darker side is when your own team blocks/trolls you because you're running a tank they dont have and/or dont think you should have.

The rage against "special" tanks was a lot less when anyone could earn them if you just ground until your eyes were blurry (IS3D and Tankenstein come to mind). The change in WG strategy has amped up the vitriol in the game against unique tanks. The giveaways of M60 to "loyal" players, lottery gambling of others where some "get lucky" and the masses that spend cash get 0, and the almost-can-get-it-but-u-have-to-pay-if-u-want-to-complete events like my cartoon box invokes a lot of hatred. Just 1 data point but I've never had teammates try to mess with the Tankenstein or IS3D but were happy to have them on the team but I get it all the time in the cartoon tanks (holding you in place until enemy comes, repeatedly ramming you, etc.) and have seen it a lot already with the lottery tanks from this years fair even if it means a loss. Just another reason why WG should rethink their strategy since folks will stop paying to "win" the tanks if it just means they've now painted a huge bulls eye on themselves.

I always ignore m60 players until they are the last ones remaining on the enemy team. The majority of them are 40% players with no actual tier X tank.

Watch sk8xtrm's video on it, it is very helpful. Poor sk8 wanted one really bad himself, but didnt get it. He spent a phenomenal amount of money to try and get it too. Maybe you guys could trade?

I did a very in depth run in this tank.  Its stronger than you think but the nearest comparison is not the cent or cent 7/1 it's really the T110E5.

The other thing is the weak spot on the hatch is either not modelled correctly or its just troll AF.  It shows clear pen to HE shells at 100MM and you will struggle all day to get a full roll or even a decent roll into it.  I cant tell you why but it feels like there is a hit box or something not modelled in.  Fyi I drove this for a big testing period mostly solo to get teh footage and my numbers at the end of the run were 45 games played 77% win rate 1849 average damage.

The thing that stood out to me was how troll it is hull down and how phenomenally good it was at quick peak snap shots.  It's a t110e5 though..not any kind of front line heavy and if you dont move from hull down spot to hull down spot and then only peak snap shot and pull back you will get punished.

You'll still eat a lot of really annoying HE dmg as ppl spam shots at your turret and every once in a while a 120mm and up gun will get a magical big roll which sucks but meh its still possible to perform very well in it.

Not hard to do. Since it’s pretty much impossible to get without hitting the Wargaming HoChuck Casino & Cabbageski All You Eat Soup House.

Or you just accidentally spilled the beans and they are putting it in the Store soon.

no beans spilled but I'd be bloody surprised if they dont sell it eventually.  If ppl want it you can generally buy it at some point i.e the m60.

Bushka’s hit the nail on the head.

My first game after I won this tank was superb. Then reality set in and I found that if I tried to do anything leading edge or over aggressive I’d get shot to pieces in seconds. It’s very much like an FV4202 but with a solid turret. That must be why WG decided to give it that stupid mini turret and tall lower glacis as weak spots along with a lighter than normal for Tier VIII Heavies gun.  Soviet Heavy tanks are not on the menu unless you flanked them. But oh my can you whoop up on Mediums and Lights.

The point of the game is to win.  The purpose of the game is to have fun.  They are not mutually exclusive.

And to put a nail into this coffin...

I just mothballed my Chieftain. Removed everything for the credits, covered it with a tarp and that’s that.

The gun is accurate enough to hit and bounce off everything you shoot at because it has Tier VI pen. The frontal turret armor is heavy enough to deflect everything that hits you, right into the commander’s plastic cupola. The acceleration is on par with a 50 year old Renault 2CV. The hull armor is non-existent. The friggin turret rotates only 1° faster than that of the E100. Basically, driving it will make you long for the performance of the Churchill variants.

If I ever claimed it was better than the Caernarvon, I lied.  It needs about 30mm of pen, 80mm of armor (split between the forward hull and the cupola), 10° of additional turret rotation and at least 100 more horsepower.  At that point it will be nearly on par with the Caernarvon. It sucks.

The point of the game is to win.  The purpose of the game is to have fun.  They are not mutually exclusive.
