In light of the recent C6 v. XWING platoon fiasco, I was wondering if some of my fellow forumers would be willing to contribute their thoughts as to what directions are usually bad ideas to call on certain maps (ie, the medium tank calling town on Middleburg against 5 IS-spam tanks.)

Discuss.

(But please, please, PLEASE don't bring up Goldville)

I dont know if anyone agrees but in middleburg when in supremacy, If my team has 1 or 2 fast tanks against the enemies 5. I always call town and get the bases then tell the team to hold positions and wait for the enemy to come down. Its one of the rare moments I go town on maps. other one would be the dessert map(forgot name) where the c base is covered by buildings and theres a train dividing the map

Capturing the base in any map that isn't canal.
I've reached a point in my life where I've decided I'm not old. I'm actually 20, but with shipping and handling!

Incredibly GiftedTM players calling port side on Port Bay encounter tops the list for me

Canal - If the reds are TD heavy will go where D cap is.  Will call B,D or C,D always first before going A.  A is too open and easy to get snipped.  Going D gives you cover.

Mines - Send the mids/lights to the Hill.  Heavies to the cap side of the hill to hold the flank and pincer them when the time is right.  TDs camp the back and stop the lights getting overrun.  Depending on team make up you can send a heavy to the hill and have a TD support the cap side.

Middleburg.  99% of the time, go Hill and then hold the hill waiting for the reds to pop at your spawn.  Worst thing you can do early is take the hill and then chase them in to down.  Doing so gives up any advantage and any strong positioning.   With Supremacy I prefer capping A & C or B & C, unless you are heavy/TD strong and the reds have more mids/lights in that case I would suggest A & B.

Sorry misread the question, these are my good ideas......

It depends on the game mode, map, and team match up. This means there's millions of possibilities and if you have a good team any of them can work out well. Supremacy matches imo dont matter which direction you spawn, all you need to do is get majority capture points and camp the game out. In encounter battles in pub matches always go where you have a chance to escape. Town in all maps usually corners you off and are picked off one by one from the enemy team.

You gotta go AB on Rockfield supremacy. I’m cool with going towards C on encounter but in supremacy you have to go AB.

Calls are always wrong

But I get rattled when my team wants to go to A on Canal.  You cross a danger area in order to put yourself in a chokepoint with only one of four caps on it.  That hill is a magnet for heavies who want to hide three miles away for some reason.  You have no vision and you make the chances of being surrounded three times as bad.  I hate A on canal in any lineup.

Desert on Oasis Palms seems to not nearly be what it once was.  In the past month, I would say that 4/5 times the team that goes to the north (side with the town) wins.  This is largely due to people rushing in one at a time but also with the yuge numbers of heavies out there rn.  Also if TDs do get the desert half the time they either can't get shots into the town where needed or they lose all their eyes.

I've won countless games recently sniping from desert on oasis. Only once did I see red take the far side of town and stay there. They won. Otherwise, town on that map equals town on middleburg and goldville. Town team pokes out and gets sniped to ruins.

On Oasis if its supremacy I like to cap C fast (clear out any red tanks trying to cap C) let the reds have A.  pop a few tanks near the gully hull down then the rest sit up on the dune behind C and shoot anything that pops out of the town or is silly enough to try and cap B.

If its not supremacy I still prefer dunes as you have some height advantage and the dunes offer some protction from snippers but at the same time is close enough to the cap to move in fast if you have to

If the team does something incredibly stupid.

I go the the correct way.

Die as quick as I can.

And move on to the next game instantly.

No sense dwelling on what the fools are up to.

Wow. Did you really just say that? :amazed: So whenever the majority of your team goes in a direction that YOU dont like, you instantly throw in the towel. That's brilliant M8. :amazed: Wow.

So have I but as of late this isn't what has been happening.  I attribute it to fewer mediums than there once were.  Half the time, even getting to the other side of the enemy and even taking out their Ebola 183 makes little difference because by the time that is done, already two guys have been killed while sitting on top of the dunes.  I think they want to be like a lizard in the sun or something.  Anyway the A cap has a good deal of open space and most of the time it's a decisive push if one happens there.  The difference as opposed to C is that pushing and taking that cap still gets you cover from any yet unspotted bush <kitty>

well, aren't you just a certain kind of special! Tell me, does anti-social behavior run in your family, or is it just something you picked up along the way? Stop being a [edited], k? You wouldn't recognize brilliant if it sat on your face. Witnessing poor play is disheartening. You wouldn't understand that, because poor play is all you know. So maybe you should spend less time on being all high and mighty, and more on listening, learning, and improving your skills. Lord knows you've had plenty of time to get to 50%.

Did you say something about a chip on a shoulder?  Once again you are all about personal attacks, name calling and ZERO substance while in the same breath accusing me of being anti-social! Get tf off me jerk! So now you are justifying players drowning themselves in a fit because they didnt like their other team mates actions. And you call me special! The purple power snobbery is stronk with you, ay.. Piss off.

Wow dude that is bad.  I would think its better to do what you can to pull out a win.

A good heavy driver knows how to make shots bounce off their armor, how to use cover while fighting at the front, when to get out there and just take the shot to protect his team, to keep the reds attention focused so his team can flank, and to consistently do damage while all of that happens.
