Mines is one of my favorite maps you heathen.

Despite what you seem to believe, Mines is one of the more strategic maps, especially because the positions along the island open up a lot of possibilities for crossfire. Furthermore, it's nice to have something different from the bland 2-corridor gameplay that most Blitz maps offer

And whaddya mean you "even" prefer Himmelsdorf. Himmelsdorf is my favorite map in the game.

Mines is a sh it hole.

Ya gotta admit, it does have some epic brawls in the center, with all those lights and mediums rushing the hill, with heavies close behind.

To be honest, I almost never try to shoot the gap to the top anymore (unless I have way more speed than red), but line up the shot for the red tank that does.

Goal: Suck incrementally less, day by day

I know.  Dan’s back complaining about maps again. :sceptic:

But I just can’t understand the use of Mines and top level tanks.  Russian Mediums go to the hill or the island. Gun depression Mediums go for the ridge and the hill. Heavies go to the ridge with the occasional maverick going toward the cap.  Though it’s the most eco friendly map as TDs will never, EVER, leave spawn saving many gallons of fuel.

I even prefer Himmelsdorf as you’ll occasionally see teams do something surprising and the damned TDs have to maneuver.

I'd rather play on Mines than Dynasty's Pearl.

I’ve noticed a strong lack of Spare Parts. Is that intended?

No, it is not. This problem will solve itself with time. Many players have several dozens of vehicles in their Garages, so they don’t have enough Spare Parts for the entire vehicle fleet. But you will gradually collect enough Spare Parts to unlock new slots for purchased tanks in time.

Depends on the tank.

Fast tanks with gun depression and/or turret armor should go to hill

Slower heavies and well armored TDs can go to the slope leading to the hill, or if there's not enough support, sit under the hill to bait enemies

Fast tanks without gun depression or armor can play around on the island to fire at the hill, and create crossfires

TDs without armor can camp at the back, or rotate to the island

You can rotate around as the situation necessitates though

I like Mines.
If I'm in something fast I'll go the long way around and bait and harass the red TDs by blind firing into the bushes and/or intercept red lights trying to do the same.

If the red team is mostly under the lighthouse and/or on the hill, I'll keep going around and shoot them from behind etc.

If you take the hill, it's like a little fortress that you can switch sides on and drive around to targets of opportunity.

Mines is a map that is pretty equal for both teams at the start as well. Some maps like Canyon seem to give teams spawning at certain locations an advantage.

The map is dynamic with multiple engagement points that don't allow cross spawn shots to occur.

Sure its older style map, but it's been reworked to be one of the better maps for many different tier engagements.

Mines is a completely FUN map for the higher tiers. Not a huge amount of strategy, no, but duking it out on the hill is what I love about it.

It's so fun to try duking it out on the hill and being insta-deleted when shot by a Grille and 183 at the same time. And they don't even get spotted after firing.

But what other map guarantees the TD a clear LOS to the action, regardless of which side of the map it’s on, from spawn?  There are 3 channels on Mines and they are all visible from within 20m of where ever you start the game.  That’s fine when the TD has, at best, a Heavy tank equivalent gun.  When it’s a Deathstar or Jageroo?  Then it’s just a buffet table for stat padding TD play.

The point of the game is to win.  The purpose of the game is to have fun.  They are not mutually exclusive.

Just because gameplay on a map is predictable doesn't mean it's bad. A lot of maps in Blitz are like that.

Predictable with a dash of uncertainty is fine. Where’s the uncertainty on Mines?  You already know the fight is on the ridge.  No additional thought is required. It’s not like the game makes certain to balance the teams so that you’ll have the ability to make use of the island or just as much of a chance of getting to the mine first.
