How Not to Suck 101

Hello, I’m HumanCoookie from the NA server. Anyway, I decided to create this thread to help players new or vet learn some new tactics and information on the game. Though this is more focused on new and unskilled players, anyone is welcome to read this. I will continue to revise and add more to this (similar to my post in Suggestions and Feedback). Unique matches where I observe some of the players inspire some of these topics. Feel free to send this forum link to those who you think need some serious education. Also, take note: Numbering of the suggestions below isn't related to each of their worth (least to greatest, etc). And I HIGHLY recommend watching PC WoT's YouTube channel as they provide amazing explanations about simple things in the game.

I approve.

Except for the bit about not going in with full ammo. That's just dumb. The game will auto-resupply all the ammo you fired; not the ammo you carried in total. so it doesn't really matter if you have 80 shells in your tank or 50 if you only fire 20, since you'll only spend credits for the 20 you fired. You never know when those extra shells will come in handy. No need to handicap yourself by artificially reducing your ammo capacity. On a lot of tanks, they won't carry enough shells for you to have all the ammo of a single ammo type you might want to fire, and on some tanks (like bat chat) you might run out of ammo altogether.

Besides, those 10k extra credits you spend initially to fill up your tank to the brim with ammo will be recouped when you sell the tank anyway.

Yes. Emil comes to mind as well. Only fifteen rounds.  Can’t take too many pot shots in that tank.

You should definitely put something in there about giving your teammates room to maneuver though. 1) Never drive directly behind a teammate. They might have to pull back suddenly and you can cause them to take unnecessary damage by blocking their retreat. It can make or break a battle. 2) If you and a teammate are working the same corner, be careful not to block his shots. Don’t pull in front to take a shot when he’s already been lining one up, especially if his gun has big alpha or it is a potentially important kill shot (as in not during mop up time at the end of the battle). Those shots you blocked or allowed could also be the difference in a battle.

You should add to going in with half ammo, you have a better chance of fadins medals.

Good post-idea of not bringing full ammo is beyond me, but whatever...

^^^ This. I really am fed up of the guys who wander out in front of a TD in the heat of battle.

Also, I think another section should be added about situational awareness, and using the minimap.

Also - just a grammar correction - in Section 2 it says "Obliviously" instead of "obviously" (I think that's what you meant).

Great post, +1! :great:

If you have less than 5000 battles, it is NOT COOL to have a tier 10. Having a Tier 10 does not make you good. If you think you're good, you probably aren't.

Does WoTB take the weight of the ammo into account? If so this might make sense, but otherwise, no.

Another thought.

Perhaps put something in there about tank types and how to use them. And also, put something about tanks with a higher skill cap.

I saw a guy with 500 battles and a 43% win rate driving a T49 yesterday...

True, but that aimed towards those who spend almost 100k-150k on ammo. There’s a Blitz YouTuber I watch that has extreme credit problems, and every time they buy a new tank they max out the ammo and become poor again. Plus, pretty sure ammo adds some weight to the tank.

I’m dumb, didn’t put that for some tanks rationing ammo is useless, like for the 183, where maxing out the ammo is

You'd think with how heavy 152mm shells are, you could lighten up your tank for just a smidgeon increase in speed, by taking a little more than just enough.

The loss of team kill made this a big issue. Nothing like derping a green in the rear while driving an SU when that team mate wandered in front of your gun instead of paying attention.

Situational Awareness took a big hit in game when they removed that ability.

I have almost run out of ammo in the Emil a couple of times. Poor aiming and rng were the reasons. In one battle I had 3 rounds left and in the other IIRC I had 4. Now the French lights are a different story. I have run out of ammo in both the 12t and the 13 75.

Just for history... there were only 2 St. Emils, both were at Stalingrad, and one was captured and is in mint condition in a Russian museum. It had 31 kills marked on it. Wonder if they ever had an issue with running out of ammo lol

The reload isn’t that slow for the alpha size though(thank God). It’s happened to me a few times. High damage games, taking too many chancy shots from long range, or a combination of both. Either way you look like an idiot because you’re either hiding or God forbid “running” at the end, or firing your last 2 HE shells at heavies like a noob.
