:)Hi guys,

So I know that for tier 6 I should have like 1200 avg damage and for tier 7 1400 etc etc, but I only have like 800 for my tier 6s and I was wondering how to increase your average damage, play more effectivly and do more damage essentially.

Thanks guys for any responses,

caradam666

Your damage ratio is a little low, maybe trade shots less and wait till they arent paying attention to peek and fire?

What tanks are you playing at tier 6? Ideally, the best way to increase damage is to play the role of the tank, stay alive, and everything else follows from that basic premise. 1200 damage in a light tank is much different than 1200 damage in a TD, at least IMHO.

You need HP to remove HP from the reds.

Try taking less damage and dishing more out. Don't be satisfied with trading shots. Be satisfied with you getting a shot while they don't.

Angle your front plate in the ARL, or go hull down. It has a spectacular ten degrees of gun depression, but the turret armor is not good. The gun is completely unbalanced though, so use that to your advantage.

The T37 is a light tank, so planning out your actions at the start of the game is quite important. Spotting for your team is an effective thing to do(when spotting, don't go past the middle of the map unless you know what you're doing). Pick your targets wisely. Should you be attempting to flank for the heavies when there are medium and light tanks on red that you can easily pen? Light tanks are all about being sneaky. Never attempt to trade shots in them, unless you can get a kill. Wait for the enemy to shoot or get distracted, then peek out and unload 480 damage into them, then reset your camo and repeat.

I'm not even going to talk about the KV-2, anybody that drives that thing can suck in it however they want

Ideally you want to run a fully clean battle, meaning that you haven’t taken any damage.    Obviously it’s difficult to do, but it’s definitely possible.  You have to know your tank well enough to create auto bounce shots, if possible.   Then you bait your enemy to auto bounce.

Try modifying your hp conservation rules, such as relocate, reset camo, and look for teammates to assist with focus fire when your hp is half full.

My most satisfying wins are when I’m able to carry and sustain zero damage.  Brings a smile to my face and a little sense of accomplishment.

Don't poke when tanks are looking at you.

Yeah well avg damage and farming damage at any tier is key. Just get on some high DPM tanks and you may want to give prammo a chance and learn when to muse HE or HEAT. Learn to aim and how to pen higher tier tanks. Soon you will roll with confidence but you also have to help your team so be in position to lay down the law and remain closer to protection whether or not that is structure, another player or hull down. Learn to angle you tank and side scrape creating angles to bounce shots and remember how you peak out to take shots. If you can afford to take a hit to kill do so but not often. Key is to stay alive but aggressive at the same time when called for and cautious when you are carrying way too hard and need your team to step it up. Chances are you may be the only one with balls to do so. Dw2, Leopard, kv1 at lower tiers among so many others. Just put in more damage than you take. But you kinda have to watch others do that so that you have an idea of the flow of a game. Watch youtube folks like Concep or Bushka et al

You can roll, with high DPM tanks or even td’s. Just get your tanks up to snuff before you roll in them. A low reload time for possible high damage however isn't it. An SU152 is a great tank for raising avg dmg. The obj 268 as well. Maybe the 704. Some of the IS Russian tanks are just enough dpm. German lines. Just depends on what you like. If you like them all learn the differences between tanks and be able to change your playing style for those tanks. Don't aim for 1200,2400, etc. You will put up those numbers in most tiers and higher much much higher when you get a groove going for positioning on maps and then being there to make kills.

Unless you want to give him advice on how to one shot another Kv-2. That's always funny.

Find ways to shoot tanks within getting shot. Don’t throw away your hp to get shots in.

Ok thanks guys, the thing I have probably learnt from this is to try put in shot without taking damage. Is that right...?:teethhappy:

Pick what number you want your average damage to be and then count how many shots it takes to get there. Then always try to get at least that many hits in each game.

Example: if you have a 200 alpha gun and want a 1400 damage average in that tank, always land at least 7 shots.

Granted it’s far easier said than done but keeping a running tally in your head will make it easier to track. Like everyone else has said, not taking damage in return will keep your gun in the game and make it easier to hit your target number.

I used to have a picture here but tiny pic took an arrow to the knee....

Keep your gun in the game longer.

Be smart with positioning so you can put more than a handful of shots in, per game

Don’t be a you-only-live-once yolo spotter who implodes in a minute and don’t be a camper waiting for three minutes to fire the first shot.

Don’t over expose your tank to get shots into the red team.

Expose as little as you have to.

Practice holding hard cover, sidescraping, hull down, ...

Don’t trade shots where red takes more hitpoints away from you than you take away from them.

Only expose to one red at a time, if at all possible.

Slice the pie. Don’t go sticking all out to get a certain shot or kill ... and implode because now multiple reds can hit you ... work your way in from Right to Left or outisde to inside or vice versa, where based on your position and hard cover, you eliminate the outermost vehicle first, then the next, ...

Team position knowledge. Learn to use the minimap between shots. Where are the reds. Where are their big guns. Do they have a giant TD unspotted in the back? Are their lights and mediums flanking behind you?

Sometimes the smartest shot is not in front of your nose — which could be a smart player hulled down or sidescraping that you keep bouncing on — but  a sneaky side shot into an unsuspecting red that is elsewhere on the map, stopping a mid range flank, a long range shot that helps eliminate a red and keeps a green alive longer, perhaps a shot into a sniper, ...

If you can stay alive longer, and get one two three more shots in per game, that do damage ... your average damage will go up.

This also means: making your shots count

aim in, a lot in some tanks ... don’t hit fire when dispersion is at its worst

tank knowledge, know where to shoot so the shot will penetrate and take hitpoints away

understanding armor and angles, bouncing, ricochets, ... if two shots bounce, what can you change to make the next one penetrate?

understanding ammo types and using premium ammo if you have to ... versus perhaps doing no damage per shot

Basically: play a bit smarter, learn from mistakes, stay alive longer and get more shots in per battle.

Don’t listen to notions of just picking some very high damage per shot tank to camp with and farming damage that way, to raise damage and other metrics.
