1. Same hull armor thicknesses as IS, yet much worse mobility. Even though the front is a little better angled in places the sidescraping is the same. Turret is thicker but way flatter...… IS has equally effective (but slightly different) armor but better mobility.

 

2. It lights up like a bloody torch - in 11 battles I have been set on fire 6 times, twice I got lit twice in the same battle

Except the KV3’s armor doesn’t like like the Is does, and it can sidescraping much better. Additionally the Turret is better then the Is because it doesn’t have the cheek weakspots, and the engine fires is simply bad luck

KV-3 sidescrapes and brawls better. Turret is better, gun seems more comfortable. Armour just seems more solid in its layout. I have both and I play bout. I do better and feel better in my KV3 most of the time. IS line give up armour in exchange for speed mobility.

looking at the turrets again I'll give you the better turret. sidescraping is dependent on side armor, and they are equally good at it since it is both 90 mm. I would argue that the IS is a better brawler because my KV3 has trouble keeping its angles when circled due to low traverse.
