Tankers, we have some news for you. We have heard your frustrations regarding the Spare Parts system and Equipment, and we are making some significant changes to address those frustrations.
 
So let's cut to the chase. In Update 5.0:
 
Timers for unlocking equipment were removed.
From now on, equipment will be unlocked using credits instead of Spare Parts.
All Spare Part boosters will be converted into Spare Parts.
You will have an opportunity to spend your Spare Parts on some bundles in the in-game Store.
In the version coming after Update 5.0, all unused Spare Parts will be converted into credits.
All previously unlocked equipment slots will remain.
Each vehicle with at least 6 unlocked equipment slots will get the Strong-willed rare camouflage.
We are notifying you of this major change in advance. You have time to use Spare Parts and boosters for them at your own discretion. Use this last chance to unlock equipment using Spare Parts, purchase bundles in Update 5.0, or get compensation in credits in the next update following 5.0.
 
And now—the details!
Down with timers!
It's all pretty simple. No small print, no pitfalls, no special currencies or multipliers:
 
There is only one timer left—the one counting down until the release of Update 5.0.
And after that—no more timers. Unlock a slot, select your equipment, and roll out!
 
Unlocking slots using credits
No more Spare Parts. Starting from the new version, you will not earn them or need them, and all equipment slots will be unlocked using credits:

Spare Part boosters turn into Spare Parts
Spare Part boosters will be removed from the Storage, and you will get Spare Parts instead at the following rate:
 
 Standard Spare Part booster — 80 Spare Parts
 Rare Spare Part booster — 200 Spare Parts
 Special Spare Part booster — 280 Spare Parts
A bonus from Spare Part boosters depends on the battle results and vehicle tier. When calculating the exchange rate, we took the average profitability of Spare Part boosters and rounded them up. If you're not satisfied with the exchange rate, you have time to use Spare Part boosters before the release of Update 5.0.
 
In Update 5.0, Spare Parts will remain, and in the next update, they will be converted into credits
In a nutshell: Spare Parts will remain as a currency for a short time. But you will not use them to unlock equipment anymore, and we will phase them out over 5.0 and the following update. 
 
So how do I use the Spare Parts I already have?
You can choose the kind of compensation you want. Upon the release of Update 5.0, bundles that can be purchased using Spare Parts only will appear in the Offers tab of the in-game Store.
 
 
 30 days of Premium Account
Cost: 220,000 Spare Parts.
 
 
 7 days of Premium Account​​​​​.
Cost: 80,000 Spare Parts.
 
 
120.
Cost:  120,000 Spare Parts. 
 
 
1,200,000.
Cost: 100,000 Spare Parts.
 
 
60,000.
Cost: 5,000 Spare Parts.
 
Bundles will be available for purchase for Spare Parts before the release of the update following version 5.0. Then Spare Parts will be converted into credits: 1 Spare Part = 12.
 
Bonus: the Strong-willed rare camouflage
This rare camouflage will be awarded to all compatible vehicles that have at least 6 unlocked equipment slots when Update 5.0 releases.
 
 
 
The Strong-willed rare camouflage can be unlocked for free and does not require resupply.
 
Now you know all about the major change in update 5.0. There is enough time ahead to decide what to do with your Spare Parts and boosters for them. Very soon, your tanks have maximum performance.
 
Bonus for those who read to the end
The plans to rework equipment unlocks emerged as far back as WG Fest 2017. It's been a while since the new equipment system was introduced, the game continued to develop and perform as planned. However, all tankers, including us, realized that timers and Spare Parts fall short of our expectations.
 
They were intended to increase the value of equipment, making it one of the player's achievements and encouraging players to enter the game more often. Some of these goals have been met, but timers and Spare Parts have become more of an inconvenience than a gameplay improvement.
 
Our major goal is to give our players an opportunity to enjoy our game, have fun, and become a part of our united community. Making the game uncomfortable wasn't part of our plan. So we are getting rid of Spare Parts and timers.
 
Why did it take so long?
Our previous change to the equipment system also took a lot of time, but the experiment with timers and Spare Parts was not as successful as it was intended to be. We took some time in the development of new changes because we wanted to avoid hasty decisions. The game development cycle also affected the amount of time required to implement a new version of equipment: major changes are usually created 1–3 versions before their launch.
 
During this time, we tested and prototyped dozens of variants, and all of them had more drawbacks than advantages. All scenarios resulted in two simple conclusions:
 
The system with nine paired slots is good.
Spare Parts and timers are not so good.
 
An obvious solution springs to mind: let's remove everything that is bad and leave just the good stuff. And then we will take the good stuff and make it better.
 
Overall, we feel good about the other aspects of the Equipment system. We are always looking at the balance impact of any elements that modify tank capabilities, so it’s always possible that we could adjust these later. However, we are happy that the forced choice of equipment pairs allow a wide variety of tank layouts among different players and don’t allow imbalanced combinations, as well as the fact that players can change these choices in the pair without additional expense. We also like that these slots remain unlocked on the vehicle forever, even if you sell that vehicle and then buy it back later.
 
We also feel that unlocking equipment using credits is more understandable for all tankers since credits are used as the main currency in World of Tanks Blitz. The fewer in-game currencies there are, the easier it is to get a grasp on the game and focus on the most important thing—tank combat.
 
So, we are optimistic about these changes and believe the Equipment system will be stronger as a result. We look forward to you playing them and letting us know what you think. See you on the battlefield!

Doing the math, the cost in credits of unlocking all 9 slots for one vehicle each tier is:

1-20,100 credits

2-66,000 credits

3-225,000 credits

4-450,000 credits

5-810,000 credits

6-1,080,000 credits

7-1,530,000 credits

8-2,025,000 credits

9-2,475,000 credits

10-3,150,000 credits

So if you want to buy a vehicle and get all 9 slots immediately  make sure that you save up for the cost of the vehicle + one of the numbers in my above list, based on tier. For example, the standard tier X costs 6.1 mil credits, so if you want it fully equipped, save up to 6.1 mil + 3.15 mil = 9.25 mil credits. I'd say save up to 10 mil just for ammo, provisions, consumables, ammo, and just a cushion of credits.

Yeah but they aren't making credits easier to earn so this is a nerf.  At least before you earned a small amount of spare parts in every victory. Now you just get the same amount of credits and nothing else. Even tougher now to earn enough to buy and equip higher level tanks without a ton of premium time.

It's not that hard to make credits.  Just hop in your favorite tier 5-6 and blast away.  Not to mention I'm sure 90% of the community has at least 1 premium tank.

it'll actually be quicker. The sp earnings was so low that the last time that I was able to buy a slot was 6 months ago....this is going to make premium time relevent again. Credits are actually easy to grind so I dont know where you got it in your head that this is a nerf.
