Is competency such a horrible requirement?

Good point. Taking a class probably is good just to teach safety. I live about half an hour away from a public range, and you have to take cover every 30 second just to avoid getting muzzle sweeped. I do still think that requiring a special permit AFTER you take the class is a little much though.

only if you are drinking the big brewery piss water.  The US craft beer is overall the best in the world in terms of number of great breweries and different styles.  A few Abbey ales aside, its USA all the way.

Drinking a very nice US made Brown ale right now.  Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron.  Nice roasted malts with some sweetness.  A good 12% abv kick too.

it’s great as long as you are fairly healthy.  Works fine until you need it for anything really serious, then it sucks.

No it isn’t. However the concern is always that requirements evolve into a way to keep guns out of the “wrong” peoples hands (I.e. political opponents).

So the economy is doing great?

So why is the Fed going up?

Why is rail traffic down almost 30%

Why are housing starts down?

My mother bought a car for a hell of a deal because the dealers are having problems practically giving them away, people don't have the money to buy a new car... Ford and others are going to quit making cars all together, because sale are down so bad.

All early warning signs the economy is starting to tank.

Also, every administration in the past that removed the economic safeties, made the economy crash in the past.

Veterans I'm talking to say it's getting worse to try and get some services, not better.

Unemployment is very low

Fed usually raises rates in a growing economy

New car sales (contrary to what you say) is trending up significantly over the last 5 years.

Again, contrary to your post, housing starts are up and near an 11 year high.

GDP is healthy

exports are up

US is now close to being a net energy exporter

Debt is a concern, but that is because Congress is addicted to spending, not because of tax cuts.  Current federal tax receipts to GDP are sitting above post-WW II average, which means spending is the issue, not revenues.

After watching one too many World Cup players attempting to win an Oscar for best acting while faking an injury, I am going to give a point to the Canadian side - Ice Hockey, the greatest sport ever created.
