So I picked up the T-34-85 and the Type 58 recently on my way to the T-44 and the T-34-1, respectively.

At the time of writing this thread, I have 14 battles in the 34-85 and I have aced it 3 times. I still don't have a 100% crew and I have aced it 3 frikin times. I have 17 games in the Type 58 and I have aced it 4 times. 2 times before having a 100% crew.

(One Ace on the Type 58 was pretty cheap because I had a decent game and then farmed a full HP AFK T29 for 1250 dmg)

Still. If we don't count that and combine these games (since the tanks are nearly identical) we get: 31 games, 6 aces.

Das ridonculous.

I don't know why I love these tanks so much, but it seems like they have everything - speed, troll hull armor, decent turrets, 7 degrees of gun depression, solid guns that hit hard for a tier 6 medium and seem very accurate with snap shots and firing on the move.

They also have something a little bit special. They have an HE shell that does 300 damage. THREE HUNDRED. From a 200 alpha AP round to a 300 alpha HE round is 50% increase. to put that in perspective, the tier 6 VK30.01P has 220 alpha on its 8.8 cm gun. The HE average damage is only 270. That is ~ 22% increase. Your average tier 6 medium tank 75 mm gun goes from 160 AP to 200 HE. That is 25% increase.

Does anyone know if there is a historical reason for this? Or even just a good reason? Incidentally the KV-1 and SU-85 have the same deal with their 85 mm guns.

WoT blitz is better than WoT PC imho because no arty and +/- 1 mm.

The HE is very nice on these tanks.... but the grind gets to be so boring.  Both are huge grinds for their tier due to split lines... and they’re almost the same exact tank.

For some reason I did spectacularly well in the Type 58, almost as well as the Starchaser, which is interesting because I consider the latter to be the far superior tank. I've probably aced it at least 15 times, if not more.
